Any Utah people want to ride from Strawberry over the mtns to rt6 , then do the entire length of skyline drive to I-70 and then punch it back up I-15 on Monday? Nothing technical, just dirt road blastin' with great views from the peaks.
I did part of it as I was solo. I didn't want to push it on the southern portion of it. So I dipped out above Fairview. Ended up going from Strawberry to rt6 on dirt, a few miles up to the start of Skyline on pavement. Then skyline drive to Rt31. Cut down to Fairview on pavement. Tried to continue west on dirt over the next two ranges to I-15. But, hit a padlocked gate and had to double back to Fairview and head north on pavement via 89. Once I hit rt6 again, went up diamond fork then back on dirt over the mtns and back to strawberry... then i40 back home to PC. Was kind of a scout mission. I have a couple plans for that route. 1) all the way south to I-70 2) south on that route to Castle Dale area, cut through the Swell and then back north on Rt6 and more dirt after Price. 3)like above, but south through the swell to Escalante (pretty much different BDR routes than what currently exist) #3 could be extended and routed all the way to St George
Man I wish I could’ve gone! I’ve done it opposite- I70 to Fairview- but in my truck. Any decent bike could make it, no worries. However- when it rains there are some genuinely scary points. It gets snotty, and in some places the drop-off goes on forever! I had an hour of white knuckles and terrified kids getting off Skyline Drive when it rained. All that aside- WHAT A VIEW!!! We need pics of your trip!
No pics as I was too busy riding on that trip . There were some great views up there. Here's one from last Saturday on the 500lbs pig
