Anyone out there got GPS tracks of Uwharrie?
I dont sorry but its a shame most of the place is offlimits to riding with the exception of the few trails they have set up. In the late 70's I can remember tackling a mountain side trail with big ravines running through it. It was brutal but great.
I was in there a few years ago. It's mostly jeeps and trucks with the odd dirtbike. I believe it's still open to bikes, but its seasonal. I would call to confirm since I haven't been over there in quite some time. Most of the 'easy' trails aren't that much fun but the most I could do on my Vstrom at the time. Then, they go to crazy difficult for dirt bikes and rock crawlers. I haven't seen a gpx file floating around for it but maps are plentiful.
I go out there on the weekends. I don't have any tracks to share but it's well marked and the Eldorado Outpost gives trail maps away for free and you need to stop there for a OHV Pass anyway so it's convenient. I'd avoid Daniel; going up is bad going down is worse. Have fun!
Wish someone had told me that before I was halfway up...
Wparkinson-You really don't need GPS there. You can ride all the trails in one day-most intersect. Get ready for some rock crawling!!
I put this together. It has the OHV and the FR tracks.
Thank you very much, Jollyrogers.
you bet. have fun!
I take my fat pig up there pretty often. Just on service roads though. Pretty nice area.
