It's Sign of the Whale, God, all you think about is Tail:evil

I have seen a couple K's split - serious wrenching effort and some special tools for clutch alignment. Sounds like a good winter project.

I got in some good miles today too. That is when I noticed the clutch slipping. Either that or I am getting some nasty wheel spin. But the rear does not feel like it is breaking loose.

I know this is going to be a big job. Special clutch tools, I guess you need them to align the splines so that the tranny goes back in the right way. I can only imagine how much the dealer wants to install a new clutch and rear main seal. :splat

Getting a little seepage between the engine and the tranny, probably have a bad rear main seal too. :rolleyes

Bad rear main is a major cause of clutch failures and a cheap fix while it is apart. Jerry had a new clutch put on his RT at Morton's, I think he said it was somewhere between $800 - $900. Probably pretty similar for a K bike.

Just talked to Jerry, for his RT it was about $300 in parts and $500 in labor. He works part time at Lap's and does all his own wrenching to include engine rebuilds on his airheads, but he wouldn't touch doin the clutch, as cheap as he is he paid to have it done.

Hey Freak! :flip :flip :flip :flip

Foul - some of us have to work for a living, I could only squeeze in just under 100.

Happy New Year asshole! Just starting to make the Bahamian coffee:

    • 1 shot good dark rum
    • 1 shot Nassau Royale Liqueur (Vanilla based)
    • 1 shot coconut rum
    • Coffee (espresso fine home ground good stuff)
    • Whipped cream made with special Caribbean vanilla extract

    Let the games begin:evil :evil

Afterwards, Raspberry filled crepes with a fudge chocolate sauce washed down with a bottle of Dom.

    Count me in. :thumb

It's New Years Eve, I'm well into my cups, and the thought of cold and rain is strangely unaffecting. In fact, it's a challenge.

    See you boys in '03!

For $900 it is not worth the time I don't have to do it. I'll call Morton's on Friday and see what is up. I guess I know where all my Ski Patrol income is going this year. :rolleyes

Hey Freak, so what, I got in my 200+. It was a beautiful day for a ride. As tomorrow will be also. So it's raining and cold, WGAF :dunno Like HM, the rain is strangely unaffecting to me.

See you boys in the AM, well in about 6 hours anyway.
