I have 6 more days of work and 12 days until I get on the airplane that will take me to my new home in Japan for the next 3-5 years. I'm a career civil servant and just landed a job supporting the Department of the Navy in Japan. I will be stationed at the naval base in Yokosuka. I will not be taking any bikes with me but plan on picking up a few once I get in country. That means I have to figure out what to do with the 4 bikes I currently own. One, the dual sport sidecar rig, has been "sold" to a friend and the gentleman's agreement is that he will "sell" it back to me when I return. My two solo bikes (KLRs) can probably be stored as part of my household goods in non-temporary storage till I come home. The last rig, my BMW wife hauler will have to get sold. Stay tuned for shenanigans, cultural faux pas, and tomfoolery that will probably result in an international incident at best or set Japanese-American relations back 25 years at worse... VAC
^^^^"tomfoolery that will probably result in an international incident................" Stiring the pot already eh?
Doubt it. He is twice the size of your average Japanese man. He won't fit in anything. I would like to see him try and fit into one of those sliding drawer hotel 'rooms'. Look forward to following your cultural faux pas .
