Good to know about back roads around Langford.
Vstrom will be perfect for Douglas lake range. watch for cattle.
Lots of good places to stay in Vernon,my go to place is Vernon lodge, a little older but clean. Restaurant has creek running though it.
    Safe travel home.

Bummer. Close the door, put another log on the fire and write posts and pics about the Island 1000. Oh, and it's weekend so put a wee dram in your glass as you watch the fire.

We did a ride south from Cowichan Lake along Caycuse, McClure, Bugaboo Bypass to Gorden main past Avatar Grove and into Port Renfrew.
I picked up a low leak but got home and found what looks like what is left of a staple in the tire that put two little holes into the tube.

I might be wrong, but I don’t think there’s any buildings in Hardy that look like that..
Here’s another one from a couple weeks ago....

She upgraded her '09 SM5 for a more "road couch" type 2021-semi-automatic...1300cc's twice what I have...still a great way to spend time together...strictly slab (though in a pinch do gravel slowly)..BEAUTIFUL Van Isle...does it get much better? See you 'out there'..got the 2021 Fresh Water fishing license getting pretty stoked to get out & about. When she says "Go out with your boyfriends"..I do...works out quite well actually.
    Cheers y'all--yatman

Thought so my brother lives on the other side of those units. Last summer when visiting I was surprised to see so many ADV bikes up there years ago when I lived there they were a rare sight.

Anyone rode Holberg recently? Normal conditions?

We've been up island only by vehicle this year, Coal harbor - Port Alice back roads. Early May want to show someone that area and also get into Lawn Point Park 20210329_200436.jpg 20210330_071648.jpg

I haven’t been out that way on the bike recently, but I was out past Holberg a couple weeks ago in a truck. The road is in ok shape, no worse then normal, no better lol.
The whole north island took a real pounding this winter. Lots of high wind and rain, so if your going too far off the beaten track you may still come across windfall. All the main routes are fine.

I live on Pender Island and ride on Vancouver Island a lot. I ride to Tiger Rally Pro and have a couple of rides planned in the not too distant future. The first one is a four or five day camping/fishing trip in the Lake Cowichan area. I hope to do that in late May. The other is the north island 1000. It’s a 1000 mile loop of mostly off-road on the northern part of the island. Plan on doing that the first or second week of June

Did a burn around Saltspring on the little bike (WR250r) today.
Before I left I called BC Ferries and asked if there were any restrictions or issues with travelling between Vi and SP, and I was told there are none.
One of the locals found out I was coming over so we did a tour of the little island.
And yeah I needed to pick up some SP Cheese to keep the wife at home happy! :)

A few of us got out this Saturday for a ride down McClure main, over the Bug, and then into Port Renfrew.
One of the guys got a flat just before we arrived joined McClure from South Shore Road. It turns out he picked up a little 8mm wrench in the tire.
    Never seen that before.

After a short delay and picking up a couple more riders, we carried on carrying on. :)
