It's never a good idea to run away from a cat!

Totally agree, although I say that now without an on-foot encounter ;) Seems they attack when your back is turned though so

The highest concentration of Cougars on the island can be found on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights in downtown Victoria at the Sticky Wicket, first floor, next to the pool tables, also known as Cougar Corral.

It's critical that one never shows fear, turns one's back or tries to run away. As closing time approaches (2:00am) the more desperate these predators become, so midnight literally becomes the witching hour, and should be avoided at all costs. It is also an urban myth that the men's room offers safe haven, rather it is a trap with only one entrance and one exit. :)

I was wondering why my mom took me there....wait, does that make things weird? I was the youngest sole surrounded by cougars, I was lucky to get out with my life. Cool little spot though, the bar's scare tactics had nothing on me ;)

"Supposedly they can smell fresh meat when it enters the city limits"

They also have spies "manning" the the BC Ferries toll booths as well as effective and efficient early warning application installed on their smart phones.
When my 28 year old son comes to town to visit, I like to offer to buy him dinner and drinks at the Wicket, just to enjoy the show :)

I was going up W Jordan heading for Fleet, thought I'd cut the corner and skip Kapoor. Unfortunately I took the left about 200 yards earlier than the one I wanted. Found your old hole (from March):

The stones are still there. Good job/thanks!

I don't expect that will be passable next year. Not that I enjoyed crossing it this year.

Hi, i was Port Alberni one time delivering a trailer full of pizza's from the east coat , arrived in a dead end street, and tried to back up with my eighteen wheeler, this was on a sunday, people were having a bbq with the whole street, and tried to guide me out of street, but invited me to the party first , what a friendly bunch there, wonderfull place!

So I had a friend convince me to go "sniping" (looking for gold underwater). I thought the setup would be lighter than my usual tools and work boots, but then I realized I needed 25lbs of weight belt! Bike is a wheelie machine, but damn, what a great time! With the motorbike, I can get into some places that others wont bother hiking to with that much gear. I know what I'm going to be doing for the rest of summer now!
