Man I wish I was living in Victoria right now.... Years ago (15ish) I rode that area in an XL350R with a couple of friends, one on a Transalp. Had a total blast... though we went some places that got plastic to fall off the Transalp :rilla.

Right now I'm sitting here in The Netherlands, waiting on a new BLACK R1200GS (special) to be made ready. (26th is the latest, but the weather has been lousy so they think they might get an early slot in the shop)

The closest gravel roads that I know about are either in Italy (12 hours slabbing away) or Norway/Sweden (about the same)... :cry

I'll post future rides in this section.

It was an awesome loop ride, 275km total, under cold but sunny skies. Ok, some fog down low. We crossed the Island from Shawnigan Lake to Port Renfrew (lunch) then rode north to Cowichan Lake, all logging roads.

We really needed a chainsaw and snow shovel today.

Turned back on Jordan Ridge by a foot of snow at 2,100 ft.
Turned back again on Red Creek Fir trail by two downed trees. Rode over the rest... Lots of washouts, damaged bridges, blown down trees and 'big' rocks on road.
Trans Canada Trail section was more like a river!

What we expected riding the day after a huge wind/rain storm.

About 300 km round trip and 14 bikes out! Excellent ride.
