Just got some myself - great panniers and a nice guy to deal with. The design and workmanship is as good as anything I've seen and better than most:

    Hey TaSK,

I love those extra lights! - I have exactly the same concern as you with the indicator 'dead angle' on my new Vern's. Did you use auto-specific LED units or just 'home brew' using standard items? (didn't affect the flash rate etc?)

One more question :) - did you just power the extra indicator LED's off the existing indicator circuits?
    best

I ordered some standard yellow LEDs from ultraleds.co.uk (or maybe it was from LED1.de, don't remember), got a few resistors from a local shop, and wired it in.
Each pair draws power from the existing indicator with no issues with the flash rate.

If you're interested I can document the full setup.

    Hi Tagesk,

If you have the time, some more details would be great (or even just a couple of pictures of the installation).

    many thanks

The day start by means of smoke coming out from my vacuum cleaner. I need to take it to a technician for check up. How to get it there? Just dump it into a pannier.
Did I remember to say I love my panniers?

While I was at it I snapped a few pictures of my lights; sorry about the crappy quality.
Here you see a close-up of the right lid. The two LEDs on the right (outside, that is) are red and are "made for car". That is: They already contains the resistor that makes them able to run in 12V (in your calculations ensure you make that 14.4V and not 12V!).
The inner ones are the yellow ones. I bought them at a local store for about one euro. I then soldered on a 600 Ohm resistor, and we're ready to go.

I drilled the lid, through the "lip". This is the left lid. On the inside I folded the wires and used tape to hold them onto the lip.
If you want, you can put the wires into the lip, but for unrelated reasons I can't do that.

The cable exit on the right side.
The blue thing down at the bottom of the pannier? Probably a vacuum cleaner. :rofl

Vern was trying to sort them out last week from the phone conv I had with him the week before. He would not commit to supplying a set to me by the 18th of june, he's a one man band so has to run around for the stuff himself, not a problem as they are replacements for my trax. I was supposed to call him tuesday of last week but could not as I was very busy. I could not get hold of him friday when I called.

I will be calling him on tuesday.

I first spoke with Vern last July and have been waiting patiently ever since. Initially the panniers were going to be very similar to the 1150 ones and Vern made and tested a set but I gather he was unhappy with the amount of space the large silencer on the 1200 took out of the left hand one. So he digressed into designing an exhaust system to allow a full size pannier on the left.

If you read this forum, Vern, some pictures would be nice!

Like you I have been waiting since last July when I saw these pics

    The original set.

    http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=151474

They were shown about 2 weeks after I ordered my trax panniers I nearly cancelled the order before talking to Vern. :eek1 When He said they were a development set I knew I was in for the long haul before they arrived.

If anyone is in the Chicago land area and would like to see a set of these on a R1150GS then send me a note. I worked with Vern last year and he was true to his word.

I made a 2 week trip this year and everything fit in the bags and I experienced no problems. I even sent him an email asking a question about the latch's after my trip this year and he responded quickly.

I am happy with them and only wish that he was an American producer.
