Vespa P125/200 Project! (Now gone electric!)

I hadn’t been in contact with Jim since 2019 a few months after I sold it to him. I found an old enamel key fob and it reminded me to check back with him. He sent me the link to this 2-year, 22-page thread. Needless to say, the past 48 hours have been an emotional rollercoaster.

This scoot was my baby, having been ridden off the Scooterville showroom floor in ‘81, spending countless hours in the LA/OC scooting world, mods (Pinasco kit, pipes, mirrors, euro lights), custom paint, vandalism, minor accidents, shlepping it to grad school in TX, then to NYC, then to Charlottesville VA, only to be trashed by would-be thieves that left it in the state that Jim got it in. Moving back to CA, I simply could not bring myself to hauling it back across the country after having it sit, broken into pieces for 3 years.

In its new persona, VespaLectric is amazing inside and out! The only mod that Jim didn’t perform which I was hoping to do at some point was the front disc brake and anti-dive conversion. Ps are notorious for dumping the front end during hard braking (and I weigh a bit less than Jim ) and a front disc would be so much better.

If I get out to DC, I definitely plan to check with Jim to see if I can check her out first-hand.

Hi Lawrence, great to hear from you. I may still change out the front for a disc brake. The stopping power is minimal, especially with my fat butt, and the speeds this will go.

You are totally welcome to take it for a spin if you get back this way!
