I love how old color photos look, more soul than digital.
Keeping the streets of Santa Cruz fun on my scooter, and a few motorcycles.
    Thanks for sharing.

There is a Vespa dealer in town if you feel the need to ride to Cali.

Dear friend, at first sorry for my english: i'm sure is very bad... but i have glade very much the story of your trip. I have buy my Vespa in the beginning of 1981 and i'm still driving. Now i'm 45 years old and Vespa for me is much more than a simple scooter. In december 2005 with my Vespa and a group of friend have made our dream-travel: from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia (tierra del fuego) driving trought the legendary R40!!!!

    Ciao to everyone from Italy!

    bravissimo!

I also think those days were special (and I just was born a year later...)

It's probably only in spanish, but you can try: there's a book of the trip that took two young spaniards around the globe in 1962 with a Vespa.

The Vespa was cold "Dulcinea" and was decorated by Salvador Dalí for that trip.

The book title: "En 79 días. Vuelta al mundo en Vespa" (In 79 days. Around the world in Vespa).

They crossed France, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Malasia, Hong Kong, Japan, USA and France again. All in 1963.

Now the bike is in the Vespa museum in Genova.

CS - good story, enjoyed the 80's aspect. You guys are cool and have great stuff to tell. You are very right about every thing new being old. Got to work in KW in 2 weeks, was going haul TW down (and still will) but it makes me think about driving it down. Thanks.

I also dig the Vespa pix with the knobie that someone added.

How I stumbled back on my old pictures I'm not sure, but how cool to see the old Vespas still touring. I am getting a hankering to guy a P200 again!

The woman I met in California 28 years ago got in touch this summer by writing to my sister in Italy. The postcard went a long way round but it reached me amazingly enough. She remembers the shared part of the trip with as much pleasure as I do and was surprised I still had these pictures....
It was great to rekindle a friendship and we exchange occasional e-mails. She is just as wild and adventurous as ever on Vancouver Island, and I am happily married in the Keys but I like being back in touch. Perhaps one day I'll get to give her a motorcycle ride and not drop her!
