Purchased a FE570 from Yass yesterday. 2011, advertised as a 2010, has the closed chamber forks, 4,500k. Fantastic knick. Cush hub, actually he purchased a complete wheel, excel rim etc so have a spare wheel. Akrapovic muffler, Cycra handguards, spare new fuel pump, complete set of new spare plastics, rad guards, 10 pos map switch, virtually new tyres, sprockets, chain etc, spare range of sprockets. Wolfman panniers. Not bad for $4,500. Cons? Speedo screen copped a whack from a branch so doesn't read and NSW reg, (not a biggie) and I do have a Viper speedo on the old Toom. I've been looking out for a potential light weight bike for an adventure base for some time. I wanted more than your typical 450cc and wanting 6 speeds. Reading the reliability of these used in an ADV environment added to the above criteria did it for me. Seat - Dunno yet. I widened my KTM seat successfully but thinking how an Airhawk used on the original seat will fair. Subframe as a tank - There has been mixed reviews as to the success of converting these to a tank mainly re sealing. I resealed a badly damaged chainsaw tank with the correct sealer successfully so I think this is worth a try considering the tanks aren't avail any more. There are the Safari saddle tanks but at $650 I'll give the mod a go. Main tank - I'm thinking Desert fox Bladder/s. Headlight - Dunno just yet. At least an upgrade of the original ATM. My thoughts are to keep the bike relatively Trail like in configuration.
