This is my very first ride report ever so this will be pretty rough, and I apologize in advance if I break any rules.

I just spent a couple weeks in Vietnam. While there I rented this vicious beast in Saigon.

It’s a Honda 150 which is perfect size for running around the city in stop-n-go traffic. Since it’s a manual it’s FAR faster than 99.999% of the bikes on the road since they tend to be almost all automatic scooters. The tires and suspension also eat up the rough roads and pot holes far better as well. While in Saigon I mostly just rode around the city where traffic is freak’n INSANE!!!! Literally tens of millions of automatic scooters everywhere, plus cars, trucks, busses, tuk-tuks, bicycles, etc….

I also rented one just like it in Da Nang. In Saigon I paid $20 a day. In Da Nang I rented the very last bike available and got screwed on the price - $33 / day.

One evening I rode here to a friend’s restaurant. Good food and a cool place to hang out with locals – no round eyes spotted in the entire city. Food was delicious and very authentic Vietnamese.

I was later told by a French guy who lives in Saigon and commutes every day to this area that he would never ride this route as it’s simple too dangerous with all the truck traffic from the river ports. He said that at least one person is killed on this route every day.

Another great place to visit in Saigon is Coffee Talk – a coffee bar where locals come to meet foreigners to practice their English skills.

One evening I sat at a street café/bar sipping beers and watching people near where I rented the moto. The beers were setting me back almost 70 cents apiece.

From there I flew to Da Nang – world famous for its bridges.

This Dragon Bridge spews fire from it’s mouth twice a week.

The Dragon Bridge from the other end during the day. The pretty lady is the owner of Quay Beer.

I should have ridden all the way to the top here, but the road signs weren’t encouraging. Next time I’ll try it anyway.

This is called the Golden Bridge or the Hand Bridge. It took about 4 hours to get there as I wandered around some just to see the sights. Only about two hours to get back. I parked under a huge awning where there is security and took a tram for a long ride up the mountain to get here.

On another day I rode up here from Da Nang. I’m told it’s call Monkey Mountain by the locals. A short ride but very cool paved road with lots of twisties.

One day I rode about an hour to get to this boat and went out for scuba diving. The water was pretty murky so the visibility wasn’t good but I had a couple of good dives anyway.

I managed to get a bunch of photos underwater using a Go-Pro Hero 4. Not advertising; just stating what equipment I used. The way I do this is strap it to my wrist and set it to take photos every few seconds. The results are LOTS of terrible photos; many of which include my fat, water logged fingers.

Back to Saigon I took this ride one day for no reason other than I wanted to see some place outside of the city. It was a REALLY long day!!! Total time was about 14 hours. I actually rode further south than shown. I took a different route back, and somehow accidently ended up on a ferry crossing one of the rivers. As the only round-eyes on the boat I got some curious glances and ended up talking to the one other guy who had a bike that could keep up with me. Who rode together for about half an hour before he peeled off on a side road. One of the bridges I followed him on was just a narrow footbridge. Unfortunately, I tend to just ride and not stop for photos.
