How many miles a day can you expect to travel through Vietnam? Currently in the planning stages of a fly/buy/ride/sell/fly ride at the moment and just trying to get an idea of how far north we can expect to get over the course of 10 days. The general idea is to fly into HCM and head to Hanoi. No one in the group is really looking to kill themselves trying to make a daily mileage nor opposed to saying screw it and selling the bikes and hopping a train or something to Hanoi.

When I was there 200km was a big day, low speeds everywhere, traffic and you need to see stuff along the way.

    I can second that!

Some first-time Asia visitors think traffic and driving in Thailand is crazy. Well, compared to Vietnam, it's as predictable and smooth as driving in a developed European country. The difference is that while at least most of Thai people look before entering the road you're on, barely any Vietnamese people will do. They just pull off everywhere without even looking, because their assumption is that nobody would ever go above 40 mph. So you're on your toes almost all the time, unless riding on a road with no urban areas around.
