For quite a few years I've lived in a smallish (rented) house on a farm a few kays from the edge of town and I have the use of most of a large shed next to the house. It's less than 100 metres from a major road (Hwy 1) and intersection but is fairly secluded and has a great view from the shed and back of house.
    The view yesterday.

The paddocks I look across are green all year and my dog and I enjoy the space.

Then yesterday these blokes pulled in to do some drilling to test soil/ground structure.
    image.jpg

It seems we're about to get a bypass road for roadtrains built across those green paddocks on an embankment up to 6 metres above existing ground level.
The owners & neighbours only got told about these plans last Friday.

    Goodbye seclusion and views.

Time to start looking for another shed (with some accommodation), preferably with a nice view...

Really! FFS! Nothing like a bit of community consultation, communication, notice of intentions.

They're already gearing up to do a massive bypass construction on the west side of town, that has already been planned & funded and they're hoping to add this project while doing that. Main Roads are confident of govt (state & fed) funding because when this virus shutdown is over all governments will be keen to kickstart the economy by funding infrastructure projects.

One of the neighbours (a cousin) is not letting 'em on to his place yet. So negotiations are about to happen. Very early planning & testing at this stage.

About half way between end of 60 zone (town) and the roadhouse, near the bypass intersection.

Containers should be well ventilated to stop humidity build up. We've seen several bikes destroyed up here in NQ by being stored in containers where te humidity hasn't been controlled.

A local Club Member lost dozens of bikes stored in containers during a bushfire.
The containers were off the ground and had wooden floors, any leaking oil wouldn't have helped.

Phil, he had some log in issues for a day or so.
I think it’s sorted now but maybe he’s still recovering from the shock/stress of being unable to access this asylum. :D
