Phil, one of the riders on our trip to Mundrabilla last week has a GS 1150 with over 400,000 kms.
It’s been through a couple of replacement sets of injector barrels and he reckons he’ll get to half a mill eventually, but with all his other bikes and the new GS 1250 it may take some time.

The most I have ever put on one bike has been 240,000 before moving it on (75/6, should never have sold it :cry)

I’ve owned the Aprilia for four years, put 24k kms on it, pitiful I know but there’s reasons. A work colleague asked if I’d sell it and what’s the mileage, I told him and he immediately said “wouldn’t buy it, too many Kays”. People. Didn’t wanna sell it but the inference was a bike shouldn’t be used? That kms reflect abuse? You should buy a machine just to look at it? FIIK, I see a high mileage bike and I’m jealous of the times and places, the long miles and the fun, and I see sheds like Pops (I’m trying mate, I’ll get there!) and see a life of interesting stories, my daughter’s boyfriends look in my shed, sniff, and all they see is work. One of ‘em turned up recently, he’s a nice kid don’t get me wrong, with a flat tyre which I attempted to fix but just too many thorns in both tubes as it turned out. Had a spare, told him to go buy a couple to replace my one plus one to fix his. 3 months it sat in my shed, he bought the wrong size tube and dropped it off when I wasn’t there, then got the other boyfriend to come pick it up so he could get a shop to fix it. I despair.

Andrew, there's a fella down here with over 600,000 kms as of 12 months ago. He's never had the heads off it either.

    That is impressive.
And yet there have been Threads taking the piss out of BM reliability.

I was in Munich Motorcycles the other week and Brian (ex long time Service Manager at the BM agents) was saying that there is virtually no part for any BM going back to the 40’s and 50’s that they cannot source.

If you love your BM’s and like to do big miles, you can do so knowing you can keep rebuilding your favourite ride.

Mine has sat in the shed since a worn selector drum stuck it between gears at 65k, not impressed.

Fuck ya neighbours are a bit close Wardy. I’d hate to live in suburbia like that.

Yeah, it's a real bastard. One of the neighbours is a winery, 1 km from me, used to have noisy music festivals. A couple of times I had to endure the sounds of bands like The Waifs coming in through my (open) windows that faced them.
