Note the 356(?). I have no clue as to the race car or the horseless carriages. Z car looked really straight, though from what I know about you from this thread that’s of little interest to you?

I like all that stuff, big Americana, old timey antiques, z cars, 356’s, it’s all good. What airport was that? LAX?

I wonder if they’re goin to a rally like the Mille Miglia or somethin, or if they’re heading to auction somewhere.

I had a bullnose 1962 SAAB 96, 20 years ago that was literally stolen from me. It had way less rust than than your '68. A couple non structural holes near the floor-firewall and a patina of pinhole rust on all external surfaces. They have such a heavy coat of original paint, that a complete stripping and repaint was out of my pay scale and skill set.

Yes, LAX. I don’t know a thing except they were there for a couple of days. My guess is they were sold overseas. The Porsche would look good in my garage. I always had a thing for german cars, BMW motos.

    DatSun Z....early model.
Helped a bud slip a crate Corvette L8 ? engine in one with a Chev 2-speed auto. Alum. heads.
The car was road raced before my friend got it and it came all decked out..minus engine.
    Hooker headers made a kit...motor mounts...headers..
The swap was equal or less in weight of original.
His mom got wind of it swapping ends on a local mountain pass with her two small grand kids onboard and the car was sold within the first month of completion.

A buddy had a Z in high school who's engine was so loose it'd drip oil out the tailpipe if we ran it hard. We stuck a 305 Chevy in there out of a clapped out Iroc. Torque monster...by comparison :D With a 2bbl and a Blue Racer cam that car would wheelie away from stoplights :lol3

We rode it hard, put it away wet and eventually it went to the shredder when everything was broken. Dumbass kids. I'd love to have that car now. It vibrated so hard with the Chevy drivetrain welded in solid lol. Felt like a 100mph sitting still.

The doors and fenders got sold, I still have the hood and deck lid.

The main body went to my scrap guy.

I’ve sold a bunch of other stuff off of it from the tear down.

I’ve cleaned the front beam area and scraped the tar off the tub, but it’ll be slow progress (none) til I get back from Europe mid September, unless I get ambitious, but I have a couple cars to get finished before I leave for 13 days.

I am looking for a suitable car body I can put in an area of our garden to make a guest bed. It has to be something groovy. I plan to wire it up so the lights work and it has a night light inside...maybe AC. Visitors would sleep in the main area and keep their stuff in the trunk. I'd strip the inside except dash board which be cool if it worked. Make a flat floor and have a double mattress.

    Hmmmm

That sounds pretty cool, but a bug is a touch tiny for that. Bus would work great.

What about a small vintage trailer? You can wire the lights with led’s and leave em on.

This was before I started cleaning the front beam. This is the basis from what I’m building.

Well I'm going to strip everything out even the firewall so most any car will do, BUT yeah canned ham trailer may work. I'm just waiting for serendipity to dump something in my lap. I'll most likely go 12v with the lights and have a battery and charger. Toying running a 120v AC but it's all scheming and dreaming right now. I thought about 'building' a vintage trailer replica but I really like the idea of a car/van....I already built two 'cabins' and wanted something odd (and inexpensive). I'll know it when I see it.

Have you stayed at the Thompsons Eagle Claw moto campground in Tok Alaska?

She has a really nice little place for traveling riders.

A couple small cabins, a tepee or two, and, just for you:
