An acquaintance bought a Fleet biplane, which must have been the straw that broke the camel's back. His wife subsequently left him. A friend of his tried to console him with "Hey, you lost a mediocre wife, but now you've got a really cool airplane."

The DR and the DL are a great pair of bikes to have! I've traveled long distances on the DR, but it's going to be a lot more fun on the DL.

True dat. It was an 8500 mile jaunt on my DR that convinced me to replace it with a DL1000 after it got stolen.

As an aside I hope that my stolen DR's gearbox grenades catastrophicly on it's thief in the middle of a high-speed mountain sweeper.

My 2017 Wee Strom, mostly ready to ride. A question - This bike has Acerbis hand guards that attach at the end of the bar. I would like to use a Kaoko Throttle Lock that's designed to use with Barkbusters or SW-Motech hand guards. Anybody have direct experience with this?

    Thanks.

I bought a '16 w/ 15k miles for $4,800 a month ago and I thought I got a good price. I got a few farkles (Top box, luggage racks, engine guards, heated grips, laminar windshield) with mine, but that still seems like a good price. I didn't see the miles.

You are correct - that is a really good deal - Though almost any Wee Strom deal is better than a BMW deal. They are great bikes, but you will pay for them.

I had an f700gs last summer and I really miss it. Everything I read about the V-Strom makes it sound like it's a very close competitor. I've never ridden a Strom though. It's sort of hard to find comparison reviews on the two bikes.

I realized by the time it's out the door then shipped to me it will be out of my budget. Anyone on here is welcome to grab it.
By the way, anyone here spend any time on an F700GS and have a comparison?

For what it's worth, I saw a billboard yesterday for our local Suzuki dealership, they were offering the same bike for $5999.

Wait, so a new left-over Wee-Strom is out of your budget, but now you're looking at a BMW? :hmmmmm

I posted this on ST classifieds, also.

Free 1st gen seat off a 07 DL650. One small (1") tear but otherwise good condition. Includes bumpers and latch. Pickup in Eureka 95503 or pay actual shipping.

Come Monday it goes in the trash.

Edit, it's now landfill... sorry to the guy that sees this post 4 weeks from now and wants it.

That seems like a good deal as well.. I bought a new, 19, non XT, DL650 in February for $6098 out the door.. I would imagine that if dealers are open, they're gonna have some pretty good deals now.

I'm looking for used in the $4,000 to $4,500 range. Last summer I paid $4,400 for my F700GS with 5,000 miles. I guess I'd prefer an F7GS at this point, but DL650s (only looking at gen. 2) are easier to find in that price range and they seem like the closest competitor.
