I have a "17 DL650 and am trying to find which rack will allow me to mount a set of SW Motech Trax boxes. Anyone have a clue?

Thats unfortunate.. good if you already own one, solid new prices prop up the used ones but not great if you're on the hunt for one.
    I'll consider myself lucky.

I have the weld86 also. Works in my region and type of riding I do. What I also like is not having to remove it to replace oil filter.

How do you do that? I can't get to the oil filter - I don't think without dropping it.

$6k seems to be the bottom price. That has to be nearly dealer cost.

I come in from the right side with a set of the pliers type oil filter wrench. Once loose i can reach it with my hand. You probably have them big man hands i guess. But I can do it without removing or loosening the skid plate which was one of my reasons to purchase it. It added protection while keeping maintenance simpler.

sure, it spills everywhere coming off the filter but I spray some degreaser and hose it out.

First day riding the Vstrom after taking the panniers and racks off. Makes a big difference. Much lighter and more nimble.

In preparing to wire up horns, lights, etc. Will 16 gauge wire work for any accessory I want to wire up?

Are any of you riding 2-up with the 2017 and up 650? Wondering if it's as comfy as the 2016 and older models.

I've got a query relating to my 2007/8 model V-Strom DL1000 which it's standard fitted heated grips are now faulty and hardly ever work properly anymore....

Has anyone fitted 'Oxford HotGrips' at some stage to their DL1000..? Thing is, there are three separate models of Oxford heated grips and I'm unsure which model to go for...? Adventure - Sport - Touring

Can anyone shed any light/advice/knowledge on my query/problem please - greatly appreciated...!

    Cheers;

I fitted the sport one's to my 15 vstrom. I liked the finish on these better as they seemed to give more grip than the others plus they where the right length, no trimming needed. I've wore them nearly smooth now but they have been on 5 years and 33k so can't complain, still working great.

Put my new shoes on today 804/5’s
Dam i hate aligning the rear spacers and such
Went to put my new nozzle on my tutoro oiler and found the oilers split down the middle
    Fml
Thats it back to spraying the chain
I will not waste any more money on this olier.....
also found one of my fog lights bracket cracked (i had a hard get off on that side a month or so ago)
And also found the skid plate is so smashed up that it is what is causing my kickstand issues.....but dam looks like it saved the filter, there is a baseball sized dent
the impact sent the bike air bound
    Always something...

I have those Shinkos on, and took my hardest ride yet today on the V-strom. My friend and I did a rocky, slow, rutted, rough route today and I never felt more comfortable wrestling the 500 pound pig! These tires are like having a new bike!

Banged the skid plate and bottomed the forks a few times, but as long as you have traction, it just goes wherever you point it!
