But then we wouldn't spend as much time here telling folks they shoulda bought one.
Flush mount signals. Why wait until they break off?
Anyone should already know, that when they use the word "beast", they are talking about a Strom. Everything else is a, please excuse me for using this word,,,,,,,,,,,,pussy,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,cat.
I will be able to add my pics shortly. I am picking up my 2006 DL650 Saturday. IT will be a nice welcome after coming off the KLR.
On a back road in Atchison or Doniphan County
From the discussion threads I think I expected a higher ratio of 650s to 1000s. Looks like an even match.
I always knew I was your hero. At least we have different colors...ride it safely, neighbor, good luck, and have fun.
Cedar Breaks National Monument, Utah:
I looked at mounting lights from the reflector mount holes but I'm not sure that any lights could handle the abuse that the lower fork legs would/will dish out on some of the roads we ride.
So I went with the crash bar pinch clamp mounts.
Just got my new DL1000, had it 2 weeks, got crash bars, skid plate, center stand, powerlet,Piaa lights and MP windshield, this bike just gets better and better, I love the power, I,ve gone most of the places I went on my KLR, no problemo.
Flying Scotsman and other brother and sister V-strom riders
My first reaction is to say yes, we need a V-strom slot here on ADV Rider.
However, there are at least 2 on-line forums exclusively for V-stroms peeps:
V-Strom Riders International and Stromtroopers.
Of course there are several on-line blab sites for BMW's and KTM's as well. I am ambivalent about asking the Baldwanna to open a specific slot here for V-stroms. The real argument would be this: Is the V-strom an adventure bike in it's own right or not? I think we know the answer. And since it is an adventure bike it seems a natural fit for it's own slot.
On the one hand, the BMW and KTM people have a never ending array of choices for their on-line entertainment and they each have their own slot here on ADV Rider.
On the other, do we want to be like them? Should we be like them? Never satisfied? Always pushing further out into cyberspace? Hogging more and more on-line real estate? Or, shall we take the high road and be happy with what we have? IMWTK
I like the diversity and discussion of different bikes here. I love my V-Strom, but I also like reading about alternatives. I am fascinated by the Uly, like to read about Capos and Multistradas and whatever else folks are riding. I don't want to create a separate forum for one model of Suzuki (in spite of whatever need gets met by the KTM and BMW folks having exclusive territory). As you said, there are places you can go for that, if it's what you want.
I'm here! Added one more 650 to the votes. DL's rule, GS's drool
Hope this isn't a RED X ........
I say to a dedicated V-Strom area!! But the only thing I'm afraid of is that the only threads will be "Show us your bike" threads or "Why I love this bike..." because the bike is so good and so reliable!!
I'm personally against a dedicated Strom area. We are fortunate to already have Strom specific forums like Stomtroopers and such. I like this site because it does include all the Adventure bikes. Just because I own a Strom does not mean I am not interested in the other bikes in this catagory. This site is about all Adventure bikes, their riders and the rides.
I just took delivery of an 02 DL1000 with 2400 miles. It was in show-room condition when I bought it, but the transport company broke the windscreen and left some tie-down burns on some of the trim (yes, bastards). They paid for it, but it's still a pain. Anyway, I think I got a good deal on my bike (paid $4,900) esp with the low miles.
I'll post pics as soon as the recent snow fall in SLC clears up.
yeah, what HE said.
P.S. - I don't miss my car at all. Riding to work while here in South Florida is most excellent even if I'm on I-95 during rush hour, in the rain, when it's dark.
Are you riding in Nebraska? Are the hills man-made or something?
