Im bringing a Birtdike next year so count me in
oh wait, will you be TRAILERING that dirtbike?!?!
gillafunk wants to talk to you.
I might have to hide the truck in town or something....
A GS is one thing, but I aint riding a bike that needs a top end every 100 hours hundreds of highway miles.
oh yeah, the end of Caliente Bodfish...
shortly after we set up camp, I saw this Palatial Mansion being set up. :eek1
Who's inside?? Ms.Bianca and longtallsally made it all the way from Germany!!!
Friday morning I went for a little ride with DaFoole and Ben Carufel. DaFoole led the way on his Ural.
Last year's fire really did some damage.
At the top of the pass we found it was snowed out. Damnit.
So back down we went....
To go and drink with these FF's
and these . . .
Burnszilla just said, "Do you have an accent, or is that like Brad Pitt on acid?."
Burnszilla knows what's for dinner tomorrow night!!
Saturday a group of six of us went to play in Jawbone Canyon. SuperSuz, TrplBiscuit, terradiva, ChiTown, focallength and myself. First we had to air down . . .
The women of Jawbone (l to r) Super Suz, TrplBiscuit and terradiva
Up and over the pass we went...
The "sandbagger" terradiva ("I don't know if I can ride in the dirt.")
Chi pretending his bike doesn't weigh as much as mine.
The resurrected F800SE!
Got back to camp and saw this! Even with an injurred wheel, she's still smiling.
This is how you get a ride to dinner!
Getting ready for food...
7 layer dip was good!!
Just to prove that Treadless actually did make it. (It was good to see you man.)
I cannot wait to see this video.
Devil Dogs do not use utensils to eat their steak:
Then it was raffle time!
Followed by . . . more drinking!!!
I have no idea.
Unfortunately, all good things must end and it was time to head home. Only to be greeted by this foreboding of things to come... :eek1 It was NOT a fun ride home, waaaaaaay too much wind and a bit of rain, but I made it safely back home.
It was awesome to ride with everyone I rode with, and I can't wait to see y'all back next year.
When I will NOT be the HDIC!!!!
...but not this.
Went back to town for an Ortega burger and a couple pints of Class 5.
like many epic rides, mine starts from this driveway.... bought this bike from sito who rode it like a dirt bike; this beast has been yearning for some adventure, so here we go.....btw, nice decal on the lower right side..
with a map and gps....no way we won't make it to warped...
loner and i rode together; on hw223
took a break somewhere on calente-bodfish
then paul noticed that his SE has a built in alarm...it was whistling..:huh all the shit have to come off and we could not figure out where it was coming from.
paul felt the battery and it was HOT. immediately we disconnected one of the terminals and placed a wet towel to cool it down.
after the battery was cool to touch, we reconneted the terminal and started the bike and no go. tried to bump start and still no go. later that day, we learned from ktmami that this same issue happened to his SE twice....:eek1 the voltage regulator went out and cooked the battery. the whistling we heard was the sound of the steaming electrolyte escaping the battery case.
great thing trout came by and we asked him to summon for help.
lonestar and sopascat came to our rescue and i got the adv salute ....
the poor erzberg on its way to camp.... but nevertheless lonestar didn't let the pucking pucks down even he had to skip the party..
I posted up about the whistling battery. Here is the response I got.....
"Its a known problem on the OC. The VRR sets directly over the rear exhaust header. Heat kills electronics. The fix is to move it to a cooler location. "

ahh KTM.... thats why mine will stick to racing
I plan on Warped next year...NO GS. XR4 in the back of the truck :fyyffwith my camping gear. To the people camping next to me, bring ear plugs and candles to cut down on the smell .
Makes sense. I have then edited my first post appropriatly.
See...I may come accross as this huge ass-hole, but if someone points out a mistake or different and logical point, I'll go ahead and correct myself.
I missed your edit. I took nothing personal about bring up the queen in a truck. I knew I would take some for it. Next year I would like to ride some more dirt, so XR it is.
I was at Warped, sort of, then I left. But I have a lot of thank you's to pass out.
and the Warped team
You all helped make a bad situation better. I didn't get to ride much, but I got the chance to spend a lot of money. :huh And the inmates above proved once again that there is no better group of people than ADV'ers.
No joy on the glasses. I left my name and number in case your glasses show up. Best of luck with the SE.
Maybe next time we will get to ride together.
those truck's and trailer's are handie to have around... O funky one
you needed help more than once and the your brothers your piss'in on
where there to help you...
Some day soon you'll be older and those trailers will start looking good
His post was hilarious no one else was offended from what I can read. I loved the boat reference.
I have to admit first time I have seen something like this in a ride report from one of these events. Are people just becoming more sensitive under the current administration?
Should this be changed to
Western Adventure Riding Party and Hug Fest?
i'm gonna take it easy on you Dave. but when talking about a sense of humor, dunno about yours.
but i didn't and don't take offense to Gillafunk's post.
the last 2 years i rode my KLR 650 to the event. not on the 525.
AND i got to ride some of the most amazing TRAILS on the 525. which i wouldn't have on the KLR650.
this subject of trailering and trucking bikes to ADV events is stale. yes, i know it's some great humor and a jab, but stale.
yes, if you want to ride your 1200 twin cylinder motorcycle to an event loaded down with the kitchen sink and ride graded dirt roads, have fun. but thats a bore.
now back to the Ride Reports.......
my videos are loading. i should have one up by the end of the evening.
paul, i'm sure you'll do the same thing for others. there's a lesson learned there, others hopefully will relocate their voltage regulator.
doesn't stop me from dreaming of getting an SE.
get that ready for the next adventure.
charles, you won't take a jab, but you just threw one....??????????
edited: added more pics!
