Shame, I just saw this, I was in Welly town yesterday, I could have taken a sicky today and gone for a look. Maybe it was just as well I didn't?

Long and boring. I lost interest before my parking was up, but left when my parking was about to expire. Not sure why they prattled on for so long about other stuff first.

spotted my first ever view of a T7 on Saturday, a black one. The guy was standing on the pegs while riding through Sanson. My thoughts went to the wafer thin saddle....straight from the KTM seat factory. Looked tall and sounded great. The LED headlight a dead giveaway head on.

Spoke to a chap yesterday who did a quick wee 1200km to run his one in and he's absolutely raving about it. He didn't mention seat issues ;)

Was watching a random YT vid about Duc Desert X. The guy was pointing out it had almost identical specs to the T7. Including fork travel ground clearance weight etc. similarly basic appointments also. Was going to fact check him but I lost interest when I looked up the price of the Duc. 20k NZ pesos...aye caramba!!!

That aside we might just have to accept that Yamaha have finally produced the next go-to RTW and amateur adventurer machine. I guess Suzuki have had the crown long enough, time to let someone else have some limelight for a while. :hide

Looking forward to taking one for a spin sometime. Won't be ditching the Tiger anytime soon for one (or anything else) but really want to compare the two. My 1st gen XC is fairly similarly spec'd if ya don't count the extra cylinder and extra HP :D plus the T7 also comes in a white version. A high front guard would look cool on it........

Does anyone know if there many in the dealers yet or are they still quite rare?

The T7 is 17k so there's not much of a premium for the Ducati.

At the original estimated price of 13K I was seriously interested in the T7. Not so much at 17. Too close to KTM prices for a budget and especially budget-spec bike.

Filco have had one on the floor for months.

if they have had one in the floor for months it was one of the pre production models left behind from the road show.

the first production models arrived in Dunedin last week for pre orders

One popped up on Boyd Motocycles facebook page the other day. They are supposed to still be filling all the pre orders countrywide first before the dealers are allowed to get demos/additional stock, so someone has messed up somewhere.

Partner and I are picking ours up this Saturday :) initially was told his had arrived but that I would have to wait till first week of Feb for mine! Found out yesterday that mine had suddenly turned up. Dunno how Yamaha organises and distributes in New Zealand, seems a bit random to me.

There were a couple on the Dusty Butt ride. I spoke to one of the owners afterwards and he is rapped with his. He normally rides around on his 1190 but is keen to further set up the T700 to do more on it. He was impressed with its handling and weight. I had a sit on his and it feels nicely set up.

Any other ride reports from T700 owners...?

In our loose group we had one. Only rode with it a few times during the event. Owner is very happy with it. It definitely sounds good and goes well.

Me and a mate spoke to Chris Birch and he likes them. He suggests that they're the bike for most people and that the 790 is more racy for hard core stuff - stuff most people don't do. Nothing startling in that observation eh...

I'd have one if I didn't have my 2 Yammies at opposite ends of the spectrum...
