I was offered a ride when I picked up my bike couple weeks ago. Too busy signing forms, keen to get back to Taranaki and forgot/ran out of time. I have ridden that motor in the MT-07 and was really impressed.

If the rest of the running gear is half up to it, it should be a good bike. The spec sheet lets it down somewhat. I shared a ferry crossing the other day with a bloke who showed up with one. He'd spec'd it up a bit and absolutely loved it.

quite possibly but it looked bespoked and well put together, all the tech stuff is either on it or can be fitted. I bet it goes goodly, The looks are only its mother could love but very intriguing bit of kit IMO

Based on relative sales, I'd say the Duke was designed with the Adventure in mind as the ultimate product, not the other way around.
Or to put it another way, there is bugger all difference between the Duke and the Adv (just like the 690 Duke and the 690 Enduro) they are part of the same project.

If you park a T7 beside a MT07, all you'll see is the donor motor.

yep, have to agree. Thing is.... how hard would it have been for a company the size of Yamaha to have the engine cases slightly changed, softer better fitting plastics, ya know, little things that would create more of a quality feel for an all new bike?

Maybe they've left it so they can introduce them as major upgrades over the next 40 years before they're forced to roll out a replacement ......no doubt a cheaply flung together hydrogen fuel-cell impulse engined monowheeled enduro based on their winning Dakar mono.

did ya's see that video the Pavey's did for ADV bike of the year? The T7 beat the 790 there as well.....they were both undone by the GS1250 though. True adventure riders will just have to keep saving I spose :lol3

Am I the only one that thinks a decent used 990 Ktoom would be better?

So @timg how are you finding the T700? Enjoying it? How are the lights at night, that seems like a reasonable pattern in the grass?

Like all Adventure/Dual Sport bikes its all a bit of a compromise. Past bikes last 20 years or so have included Transalp 650, KTM 625SXC, BMW G650GS, Multistrada, another 625SXC and a Hyperstrada. Very impressed with the T7. Seems to suit me/my use very well. I don't ride hard/fast but push on quick enough. It’s good on the road, fun in the twisties, great on gravel and comfortable on an all day ride. More power, better suspension and lighter than the Transalp 650 which was my previous favourite. Obviously not as capable off road as the KTM. Probably about ½ way between the Transalp and KTM. Lights are very good. At this price point its excellent. Yamaha should shift a heap of them. Cheers.

In the right hands, obviously a very capable bike. Oh to be able to ride that well.
