now that the pricing is up on tardme, anyone even remotely interested? standard or the r model? i wont be chopping in my 1090 for it, but interested in how they go, none the less. they reckon that motor in the duke is a little cracker.
The motor is good, but I think the design of the rest of the bike is a bit wonky. The specs look good though.
It'll be interesting to see what people start upgrading on this one... God knows I spent enough on my 1190R to get it dialed right for me. This seems a lot more sorted with things like suspension and airbox being good out of the box A bit pricey though... Gives me the incentive to finish my XR650R project.....
Looks lovely. I like the squared off styling. Just a tad heavier than a dr650, 30kg lighter than my new vstrom and almost 30 more horses. Would be great in the right hands but a total waste in mine. Its expensive but they're toys so if thats what floats your boat and you can afford it then go for it i say. Looking forward to seeing a few on the tracks.
Would love one, but I just stuck two orange things in my shed in the last 6 months, so that will have to wait. Maybe in two years or so, pick one fully farkeled up with low mileage for a song and a dance... Yeah, I know, dreams are free.
Well it begins, not sure if this link will work, but someone has smashed in their oil filter housing due to the crap stock bash plate. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bwj77dyHZsb/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=1o64vomwvnrf1 That's one upgrade confirmed! Poor guy.

I had this in Aus last month: One of Nev's stable. 2006 990S, only 8k km. I need to find summat like that in Un Zud.
sick looking 990 Waiting for AFC to get a 790R in so I can get a proper gork at one. I will admit I don't think much of how it looks; the bulbous tank doesn't worry me ...needs must....but never been a fan of the headlight style ktm seem to have adopted....mind you, the 640A wasn't much of a looker front on either but a great bike all the same.
Did you see this? https://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1942160270 Only 11,000km. Verging on collectible. The only problem is, having owned a 640E and an SXC625, I know what that thing will do to my arse....
Hearing ya. I'm too old and broken to ride a paint shaker.....pity, there ain't too many bikes around you could purchase stock and complete a Dakar on. Speaking of which....ya reckon they might go back to proper sized Dakar bikes now it's moved closer to home? Maye a 790RR is in the pipeline......
I dunno about that, but I do know that CFMoto (who are going to be building these 790's after the first Austrian production run) have got the rights to the 990 motor and you can expect to see their version in the next coupla years. Good luck, mate, I mean it. I bought my 950 from an fellow inmate in Mot with over 75K's on it, at 7 grand still a bargain I would have thought. But if you have time on your side, and deep pockets, you might get a tidy low mileage one. Try the 701E for shits and giggles, she has the duke engine with dual balancers, quite good I hear.
