Are you sure you've actually bought one?? I mean, there aren't any pictures.... Could have been anyones tyre tracks. Perhaps youre hallucinating??.
I suppose it's a possibility. If you fall off enough motorcycles the resultant concussions do strange things to your grasp of reality ..
I thought about it. But I have half a pound of titanium in my left foot and a fucked right knee. Just too tall...
It took them three and half hours to install it. The surgeon asked me if I wanted it taken out, but warned that it would do quite a bit of damage, scars on scars and such like. I politely declined.
I believe the last person to ride the Peg prior to its escape from Chateau Oscar was enthusiastic about it .... He knows a thing or three about things on two wheels so I understand
'engine guard' not skid plate designed for light abrasion resistance to the engine. Like most adventure bikes you would assume someone will develop a robust aftermarket 'bash plate' which clearly the 790's isn't. The mounting points will be key though. Not much good having a plate that bolts to the engine as some do. It is difficult for any manufacturer to warrant damages caused to a bike via a crash or some other impact. Clearly in this case something gave it a good wack. I don't like the pegs being fixed to the engine casing though....its $$$ waiting to be spent, but then that's what insurance is for. All worked out good in the end but that won't stop the haters bangin on about KTM design issues......like every bike doesn't have them. We should all play it safe and ride beamers You get the impression that if that same damage was on the R model then KTM would have covered it under warranty? Somehow I doubt it. I could see them saying something like....The R model is designed for more extreme off road riding than the S, which will mean some owners will take it to and beyond its design limits. Like every motorcycle used in this fashion the owner should weigh the risk of damage to the motorcycle. This is to be expected and is a part of ownership cost.
Are the 'A' and 'R' models pegs fitted the same? And is it simply extra ground clearance the makes the 'R' ok to ride rough stuff? Hands up, who-ever hasn't clonked a footpeg onto a rock/root/rut. Hmm, not many hands up....
