    Disclaimer.
My camera is jacked so all the pictures are from the selfie camera on my phone. I promise they wont do any of it Justice. If you dislike bad pictures, nothing to see here.

    Shameless plug.
This is our ranch. For $100 bucks you get soft bed, hot showers and 3 meals.

If you're ever in Gallina the best burger in town is at papas joes. Super nice people. He has a sling shot and has driven tail of the dragon out east.

Gallina is the beginning of the most beautiful 30 miles of pavement in New Mexico. ( This is where pics are not helpful)

This if the south end of nacimiento mountains. There are 100's of miles of roads to get lost in. We are going south at youngsville in to the Jemez mountains.

Let know if you got a better stretch, i gotta go there.

The Cerro Pedernal is a place of important to the prehistoric and historic natives people. More then 1 tribe have their origination story on top of this mountain. Georgia O'keeffe painted and spoke about it often.

The obsidian from this mountain has been found from the Mississippi to the pacific coast.

Looking back towards french mesa is a New Mexico True shot. Nothing says new mexico like an old church in the back yard of a stuccoed trailer

Climbing higher you get to see the sangre de cristos way in the background

After a crazy 4 way intersection way up high there is this beautiful lake
    IMG_20210429_115302993_BURST000_COVER.jpg

After winding around there was a large herd bit they were running away no matter what side i was on. (Guessing you might see with some zoom??? IMG_20210429_115510862.jpg Saw an eagle, porcupine, turkey, elk, deer and the always present ravens.
The road so far was smooth and the washboard cleared up after the first 3 miles

The ponderosa are amazing in Northern New Mexico.

Was able to skirt by then through it with a little 9 year kid on a bicycle on the ice double feet down action

I was just staring to descend and thinking about refreshments and the road went from gravel grated to rocky 4x4 in an instant.

    IMG_20210429_123114440.jpg

It got worse for awhile. I came across a side by side and he felt that i was almost clear. It eas a nice reassurance. We chatted about the beauty of being lost.

It took some picking carefully to get through. I have my skid plate off for the winter so it was really my biggest concern on the tenere. About 1.5 miles of this and road went to smooth high clearance and the going was a entertainment. Made a turn to explore a fun steep smooth section and came here

So much for going to longmire's cabin the back way. I continued down and came to this overlook. Northwest is another path into the caldera, south is A hikable hot spring. This road used to drop right in, but no more.

Then i found a fun little diversion. I Luv Me Some 2 Track!
    IMG_20210429_134459314.jpg

This deteriorated into some actual single track. That was a first on the tenere. Was a little busy concentrating and shoulda got a picture but didn't.

Dropped out of the forest about 4 hours after starting and i had a helluva thirst.

Stopped here but they didn't quite jave what i was looking for. Been by this place a dozen or more times but had never stopped.

Continued down the road and found my a Cumbres Elevated IPA on tap.

Walked across the street to stretch my legs. This bath house has endless amounts of very hot water in 9 foot tubs. Not sure when they will be open again. Woulda soaked for 30 if they were open.

    The road to the tunnels

The road was very nice. Here is a shot of the gorge where the tunnels are. Absolutely the worst pic of the day. Too bad, its a cool spot.
    IMG_20210429_161502836.jpg

I was thinking of home and barreled through the next 15 miles of wash boards back to pavement. I hooked a left and hit the throttle only to have a road closed sign in front of me when i got back to dirt. Turning around was far down my list and around i went. Road was rutted and a little slick, but open in all of my definitions. Returning to pavement, the road descending into cuba is another fun piece of black top.

Well i beat feet home. If your on on 112 at mile marker 4 you can look over our ranch. We got access to alot of this kind of stuff.

I stumbled onto this sticker stuck to a semi camper trailer looking thing next to the bar. Growing up skiing A-basin, it is a curious sticker
