Welcome to the ADVrider Racing Forum! We are proud to be the home of bench racing at every level, from your backyard to world championships.

There are a few things we'd like you to keep in mind as you are a part of our racing community here. :deal
    • Please don't post race results in thread titles.
    • Be nice. You might learn something. We are lucky to be ground zero for the rally scene and have knowledgable folks from many other disciplines as well. Flame wars tend to drive these sort of folks away, they have better things to do than argue on the internet. By all means, ask your questions, express your opinions, but remember the racing world is small and if you make are making a big stink, it doesn't help you and it doesn't help the site. We hold a pretty tight line on civility.
    • Racing is often a commercial activity. Advrider is a non-commercial site. To reconcile this, we have a simple rule: You are welcome to post about what you are doing (or planning to do). We love the stories that race teams, race organizers, and racers come here to share. So, experiences are welcome here, even if they have a commercial angle (like a race organizer). But we draw the line at anything that can be acquired or rented- the "stuff" of racing goes in vendors. One minor exception: If you are a racer and make a single post about selling swag in your thread about your racing experience, that's fine, but anything more or any continued discussion should have a vendor thread, and if the only thing you intend to do is peddle something for your team, put that in Vendors as well.
    • For those of our inmates who have rally related bits and pieces of their own, that they would like to sell - to like minded members of the world wide and relatively close knit rallye fraternity - by all means, use our Rallye Flea-market (posted as a sticky immediately below this one). Read the rules and take care of your ADVert.
    • We have a shiny new search function. If there's an event or a subject you're interested in, give search a spin, and see if people have already started a thread on that topic.

So once again, welcome... enjoy the forum and remember... ride fast and take chances! :wave

    best regard's,

Ned & troy c/o the management.

TSC: It has been brought to my attention that there has been more than the "usual" amount of "flame wars" (trolling, baiting, general "aggro") going on in the various MOTOGP and related threads of late.

I am only a casual observer of MOTOGP/Roadracing... basically I am a dirt bike guy. To that end (since been honored with the task of Moderator for the RACING forum), I have pretty much left the "tar racer" threads to their own devices.

There are a lot of knowlegable and enthusiastic inmates that frequent the RACING forum to discuss the "sport" of MOTOGP. The amount of activity and interest shown for these MOTOGP/road racing threads is a testimony to that fact, and a credit to all those that contribute... BUT, the crap fight that has ensued about the Lorenzo/Rossi/Marquez business over the last few months (since end of 2015 season) has grown tiresome.

CEASE AND DESIST IMMEDIATELY is the final word on this matter.

That applies to all the various yooperbikemike MotoGP threads etc. INCLUDING ireconcilable differences.

To those inmates who feel the need to continue the whole Rossi/Lorenzo/Marquez feud... either take it to another site where they condone trolling and baiting OR create a private discussion amongst yourselve's and taunt one another to your hearts content.

BUT DO NOT CONTINUE TO DO SO OUT FRONT HERE ON THE RACING FORUM THREADS PLEASE.

This thread is now locked and stickied (for a period of one week) in order to convey the message... as well as a crosspost reminder in the other (infected) MOTOGP threads on the front page.

Please let this be the last time the administration have to bring this point up, else measures will be taken to prohibit conclusively, any further "flame war" activity.

Please, play nice together here on the board and have a great time; whatever you ride... whenever you ride it.

Okay... here is a courtesey wave/reminder from the management :wave (we had one of these in the road racing/MOTO GP threads... a few weeks back). It has been brought to our attention (by some infrequent posting/but enthusiastic viewer inmates) that the "civility" levels of interaction in some of the moto threads (SX and outdoors) from time to time get a little caught up in slagging/trolling one another... rather than debating the merits of what has happened on (and even off) the track... or on the television coverage.

A few topic's in particular that seem to have been :dhorseto death in recent times include... the #JS7 trainwreck saga... the Ralph & Jeff show critiques... #800 and the Alessi haters... golf analogies, baseball quotes and their application to the sport of motocross... the "it was tougher in the 70's/80's" debate versus the "new generation of superheroes" supporters... and (but not the least) - the half dozen (or so) regulars that derive pleasure from baiting/heckling one another ad-infinitum...

Now, I'm not pointing fingers... all involved know who they are themselves (or should do) and far be it from me to stiffle the good natured ribbing and sometimes sharp tongued parry and thrust of a spirited discussion. :turkish

BUT... it has gone overboard on occassion, and when it starts to drive away genuinely interested contributors - and becomes the same repetitive "dogpile" of taunts from the same inmates... then it is time for the management to wave :wave a flag... and that time is now.

Enjoy the racing, evaluate the ramifications and by all means, discuss the contentious issues, with the humour and flair than many of you posses... that's why many are here... but the incessant knee jerk flaming and bickering can take a backseat please... a bit of self moderation, situational awarness goes a long way... even on the interwebby.

looking forward to some great outdoor nationals as the season unfolds...

    cheers! :beer

A gentile reminder from the maanagement:

The habit of posting antagonistic, disparraging cyber tough guy comments that do NOTHING to further the discussions here in RACING about the various recing disciplines in this sub-forum, but serve ONLY to show personal contempt or discontent for other inmates... are NOT ACCEPTABLE. Anybody and everybody is perfectly welcome to participate here, provided that they adhere to the codes of conduct and decency that the owner of this site and it's administration have spelt out in numerous places on the forum as being acceptable.

The practice of "dog piling" and knee jerk baiting action that previous posts on this moderator "sticky" have been made about, are precicely the kind of posting habits that we serve to eliminate. The ADV Rider.com administrators policy that this type of posting behaviour is no longer welcome on here... If you want to bait one another ad infinitum - there IS a great big basement downstairs to play in, where that kind of banter is accepted... but NOT here.

All inmates that can find it in themselves to adhere to these guidelines, are MORE that WELCOME to do so here in the RACING FORUM... and that includes everyone.

So inmates... build a bridge - and get the hell over it - but baiting/dogpiling and hostile posting habits like those we have seen lately in Supercross, MotoGP and flattracking thread of late - that do nothing to further the discussion about RACING amongst the inmates here - are NO LONGER WELCOME, nor will they be tolerated/accepted any more.

ADV enthusiasts who would like to contribute with incisive, intuitive even sometimes controversial viewpoints - who can do so coherently and discuss the sport... especially if they can achieve this with a touch of humour and the odd color photo or relevant link, are welcome and will always have a place at Baldy's table here at ADVRider.

    That is all...
