My vote is for the sierras. I can't get enough of that area.
I can see it now..."The Steens Mtn Adventure Rally" ...day rides across Hart Mtn, the Steens loop rd, Alvord dry lake bed, the hot springs to wash off the dust.
if its hot you can camp at high altitude, if its cooler you can camp on the dry lake bed.
more scenic than the grand canyon, & centrally located on Or/Nv border.
wide open paved & gravel roads to suit your tastes/bike. VERY FEW COPS! most drive f-150s & are checking fishing permits.
nothin lake watching an antelope run beside you at 55!!
strap your fishing pole to your handlebar...you would'nt believe how good the fishing is!
try to plan it to coincide with the full moon especially if you plan on camping on the dry lake bed...a truly spiritual event!
Great hotel/resuraunt/bar in denio.
NOW yer talkin'!
Not unless the Raindog had to change plans I thought it was a done deal. I know we all talked Crawdad's, aka Mudbug's, aka, Crawfish feed at Raindog's Compadre's farm.
Now I'm all screwed up as to where would be the best place! I'm a sucker for that part of the world but would like to also do the Raindog's place for the social interlude, but man the Alvord is so incredible. Everything you said and more!
I really like the scenic Steen's Mountain Loop outta French Glenn.
What do you guys think of Hamburg or Happy Camp on hwy 96 in No. Ca.
Great food at Hamburg, but the other place is really fun.
Well, I'd love to do Sorensen's again. Nice digs, if we fill it up again I'm sure there could be a BBQ. BUT I'm just thinking out loud
Benn gone from here for awhile just finished up with the celtic music fest 10 bands 20 workshops and 800 people in attendance!
Anyway.....I'm still down for a gathering and mudbug BBQ. I'll talk to buddy Pat..I'm sure he'll fly up and do the cooking..we got a house with a couple showers..a barn...and 98 acres for camping. I got a crazy week again this week..but I'll start trying to figure a date..keep it pretty casual..rubber cow, tracker, spokey and the rest could figure out the rides..
Anybody up for a Mar 5-7 or 12-14 deal in deep So Cal?
Define Deep SoCal...
You got an event happening Bob?
You know how it is...I'll go wherever you go:): Get the Onion to come along too.
Dangit you're supposed to wait 'til the year after for the next West Coast thing. I already missed one, and with time off for the Ouray Social it's very doubtful I can get enough time off right when you're gonna do the West Coast Soiree.
as far as I'm concerned, the next 'west coast thing' will be Death Valley Daze, Jan 23-25, at Furnace Creek.
I'm in for bugs at the Raindog ranch.. can't get enough of 'em. Guess I could throttle back for a couple of days seeing as it is one of those states where they let the troopers wear those smokie the bear hats. Goes straight to their head. Besides, haven't been up the divine Oregon coast for years.
