It all started at the ADV-cottage in Salida.
And since I'm from Denmark, this turned out to be another of those educating experiences for me :freaky

A group of ADV-riders met up and had beers and a BBQ before we got on the road on thursday morning. Well that would be wednesday afternoon...:nod

Ben; Well, it's a freaking beer!... Tammy; Yeah right...

Meathead can't take it any more and MotoCat has all ready seen enough.

Got on the road after a goooood breakfast, and headed up over Marshall Pass were I got a flat because of the old railroadnails are spread all over after the rain has washed them up out of the ground. Meathead was so nice to turn around to see where the h.. I had gone, and as he did he got a flat too (thanks and sorry about that..:zilla )

Thanks Ganshert for rescueing me with a tube:freaky

We fixed it and got on the way again.

    But not for long...

Got Meatheads tire going again and then no more issues. Allmost...

Charla is given crap for her riding and getting pointers how to improve her skills.

    Ben chasing Charla.

And this is the one picture I've got of Tammy not doing a wheelie or a stoppie, but Duke banned me from posting the killerpics I've got:D

Then Meathead takes a dumb in the middle of the gravelroad.

And he does it again in the romantic way again later:rofl

Other than that he actually made it to Lake City in one piece and got a lot of crap for his style:clap

Got settled at the Texan where we didn't drink or had fires.

    Ganshert mohawk???!?!??!??:huh

And then that day was over and done...

Gordy.....many thanks for taking Sam and Drew in tow with you...I asked them what the scariest part of the riding was for them.. Both agreed it was hearing Uli's bike roaring through the woods and then seeing those horns coming through the woods like some evil, disembodied beast! Both said it was unnerving as hell...:rofl

    Mission accomplished!

That's the tactic, get 'em scared with noise and horns then make them wanna cry after showing them the pics of the "The hills are alive with the sound of music". Your boys will never be the same.

We all had a great time. Come back to ride with us any time.

    Ralliers,

It was super nice meeting as many of you as possible along the way and in Lake City at WestFest! The photos posted to date are great! We are back home in M-i-n-n-e-s-o-t-a safe. I'll post a link to our photos after a long overdue nap.

A BIG thanks to GSdude and others who helped with this years event. How about Northern Colorado next time ???

You all have some great pics!!!

I was only five hours highway time from lake City so I took the scenic route and took two days. I tried to avoid pavement as much as possible but Schofield Pass was socked in so I went over to the Paonia Reservoir and went over Kebler and Ohio passes instead.

On Kebler Pass I had to pay the usual cookie toll to those pesky little elves.

Weather kept to both the Elks and the Raggeds so I must be living right.

On the west side of Los pinos Pass.

Cebolla Creek on the way to Slumgullion Summit.

Coming into Lake City - made it with only sprinkles on four of the passes and then it rained dor the rest of the evening after I checked in.

Most of the around town party pics have been covered pretty well so I'll skip to RIDING! Friday was a pavement day as it rained most of the night and I had only 20% left on my street oriented tires. here's some of the biker riff-raff that I enjoyed riding with.

OK, Farscape. How many pictures of your bike do you really need?

Black canyon of the Gunnison is just SOOOOO much fun!

19,000 miles and 1..., 19,000 miles and 2... Now why don't they build roads like this in Kansas?

You can't see it but there's a big sh** eatin' grin on the face behind that helmet.

OK, Just one more turn. Hey Scott, sorry no pic - you were going so fast you were just a blurrrrrr....

Saturday: Over Slimgullion Pass to the Continental lakes.

Bobcat, Are you inching over towards my bike?

Sunday: Waterfall on the way up to Cinnamon Pass
    [IMG]

Getting up to the top wasn't a problem. Now getting down that first steep pitch on loose rock.....

If you didn't get to Owl Creek Pass I highly recommend it - the scenery is fantastic.

Thanks GSDUDE, PLAYZNMUD, and anyone else who helped put this together. I know it didn't come together smoothly but I appreciate all of your efforts and contributions to this community of DS riff-raff.

I'm home, too, after thumping the 900 miles back across the plains to Minnesota.

I can't top the pictures already shown here, but I'll throw in a couple anyway.

On the way to westfest over the Trail Ridge Parkway:

On the western side of the park, I met a Scottish gentleman named Mel. He has been on the road for three years on his KLR, the first two in Central America, and now in the US:

The riding and camaraderie were great at westfest:

(note that in any KTM thumper vs. R1200GS encounter, the little KTM is going to lose and get bumped off the trail)

    Anja found her trail-riding legs.

A strict policy of no convocating and no alcohol was adhered to:

And, of course, I spotted a few planes on the way home.
