Brilliant weekend. Thank you all so VERY much for doing this.
I made it home. Had a great time.
Great times with good people! Thanks for all the hard work putting it together @Big_John & team.
Get your Pics hosted and let's post all the visual memories....especially of riding!!!!
Books are balanced and here's the donations that you assisted with......
$1,800 Trails Preservation Alliance (Help fund lawsuits....so our trails don't get closed.)
$200 Adventure Rider Forum (to help with annual hosting fees)
$400 Single Mom with Flooded Basement who couldn't come to West Fest
$200 Various Trail Clubs in Colorado - 10 Pocket Chain Saws to Clear Logs (Beetle-kill, deadfall on the trails is getting much worse.)
$2,600 In total donations...... and the account is Zero'd Out.
PS....if you still owe a PayPal for a Donation, please send and I will increase the donation to the TPA!!!
You are WEST FEST..... and you all did awesome!!!!!!!!!
By the way, gang...... A couple of you asked.....
"John, why don't you cater the food......cause you guys work too hard."
Well, I use to be in the restaurant and catering business back in College..... Here's the breakdown of those costs today if they are catered by a local business.....
$10 Pancake Breakfast
$25 Pork Loin and Salmon Dinner
$12 Breakfast Burrito Breakfast
$35 New York Strip Steak Dinner
$8 English Muffin/Coffee Breakfast
Catered Food would have cost me.....$90 plus tax......per attendee...... So your event costs for catered food and to be able to make those donations would have been closer to $125 per rider.
$65 per person.....and $2,600 in donations is a pretty good deal!!!!!
In turn.....we buy the groceries.....work our butt's off.....and we get to make the donation above......
Plus.....you all get the fun and socializing of cooking around a grill.
So.....I'll work my butt off when I can do the good that I can do.......
Our lunch break on Saturday:
Single track on big bikes! Tons of fun and teamwork.
Fantastic day! Fantastic group to ride with. Thanks everyone!
I want to keep the donation recipient private.....but this is from the Single Mom who's basement flooded and was unable to attend West Fest and several of you purchased TShirts to help her out.......
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! John!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you SERIOUS?!?!?!?
I am in tears right now! That is the kindest thing that anyone has ever done for me! I don't know what to say! I am in shock right now........
I am so incredibly blessed to have such amazing, caring, good hearted, badass friends in my life! This shows me that ADVriders and this group of people have the biggest heart and I couldn't be more blessed to be a part of such an outstanding tribe! You all are not just my friends you are my Brothers, my Sisters.
Thank you doesn't even begin to express my gratitude.
Well, we couldn't manage to leave all the adventure in CO and had to make some of our own this morning. I'll tell the full story later, but here's a teaser.
Dunno if it was luck, my mad skills, or the death grip of my sphincter on the seat, but we somehow didn't crash when hitting a big piece of 4x4" lumber at ~75mph in KS. Still trying to get home. Inconvenienced but healthy. Some ADV riders from Tulsa (@Dirt2007 and @FatBob) are enroute to get us.
Do you need a seat extraction, too?
Where were you when that happened?
Just N of Wichita on I-135.
2whelman had a two hour wreck delay on I-70, but he was an hour or two behind me, and I didn't know if it could have been the same place and maybe your incident a result of the other.
