Well, I met with my doctor/surgeon today to go over my imaging.
I have 2 issues. 1 mid back and 1 lower back.
He doesn't know if my mid back issues are being caused by my battery pack for my spinal cord stimulator or that I'm favoring my lower back so much due to pain I'm straining my mid back. Also the reason I'm still having lower back and leg pain is because the lappendectomy he did above my fusion 2 years ago has totally closed and a butt load of new bone has formed (arthritis) and is impeding on my nerves. The only way to permanently fix this issue and to also help rule out the mid back issues as a starting point per se is to get another fusion above my current one and basically tie the two together once done. I have L-4 to L5 fused now with my L5 to S1 auto fused. The new surgery will be fusing L2 to L3 and tying L3 to L4 to make the two fusions one solid fusion.
So... I DID NOT see this surgery coming at all. I thought my lower back was in better shape but with the pain I have I shouldn't really be surprised.
It really sucks big donkey you know what's but it has to be done or It'll keep getting worse and as it is I can barely walk through Costco and get back to the car. When I get home I'm done for the day, maybe 2. The worst part about the surgery is, I'll still have the spinal cord stimulator that either needs to be replaced or taken out and depending on how this surgery goes... Will it help my mid back? (I personally don't think it will) Will taking the electronics out of my spine for the spinal cord stimulator make the pain go away or will I need another more in-depth spinal surgery?
    I have more surgeries ahead.
Anyway, I'll schedule surgery in the next couple of days and I'll be riding 12 weeks afterwards.
Sorry to vent on here guy's. I'm just kinda disheartened a bit but...
I'm also a believer and know God has me so I'll be fine
    Thanks for listening.

No real help here but at age 41, 39 years ago I had 2 back surgeries, they removed a fragmented disk & 10 days later operated again as they did not get it all out the first time & removed the piece left in there. Lucky no rods or fusion & still riding today. How much longer, who knows? A day at a time.

I'm glad you got it sorted. Surgeries back then could be grueling even for something simple like trimming a herniated disk.

The disk was fragmented & no MRI's back then just Milligrams where they just inject dye into the area to show the bad area.

Yup, I just had one. Unfortunately I can't have an MRI due to the electronics in my back. The dye these days is water based and absorbed into the spine and through the body quickly. That wasn't the case back when you got yours. It was an oil based mixture and took time to be absorbed making a lot of people super sick and giving them violent headaches.

If u use to ride 750 miles in 3 days River Run ride couple of years ago that mean u can still do 500 miles in 2 days R. Run:wink::nod, we can cut it a day short:clap. I need to slow it down too:-).

Anyone here familiar with riding and camping around the Grand Canyon? I’ve not been yet and was thinking this might be a good weekend to go?
