    For sale.

4 bedroom 2 bath country charmer.

Build sweat equity as you restore this 2200 square foot gem to its former glory ! Needs work on the front porch roof. A few good car jacks and the whole porch will be back against the house.
Has free flowing ventilation to assist your efforts to put glass back in the windows. Mow the hay and feed your horses as you lounge in front of the leaky camper.

Includes spare bicycle parts on the roof and ruined truck cap to start your weed seedlings in !

Only $ 2495 cash . ( or, wait till the tax sale and bid about $ 700. You will likely win the auction ! ) :lol3

Yes, this is a actual thing in this area.

I think the story about trilliums turnin from white to pink / purple as they grow old is true.
Im seeing more and more pink every day.

The lupines are in full bloom !

You find em here there and everywhere. Most common is the purple / blue variety.

    P1030015.jpeg

The Yellow Rocket plants are goin nuts ! You find them everywhere, especially in disturbed soil.

    P1020742.jpeg

Once in a while you luck out and stumble across both together.

Everything was all good at Relaxo-Rapids on the upper Black River.

If your tired of all the greenery and riding, just swing into Ironwood for a cold Schlitz ! :beer

The beer that made Milwaukee famous !

    P1020830.jpeg

I wonder how long ago that wall was painted ? Gotta been quite a while back judging by the paint.

Stopped at the Pomeroy Creek Flowage overlook.

There was a pair of White Swans swimming in the outlet !

Im seeing a few pair of these lately in different places. Very mellow birds.

    Thanks !

If ya like those mirror images, just wait. I need to weed through 140 pictures from yesterday still and about 50 from today. Got a few real " Money Shots " in the mix ! :clap

If only my camera could capture detail and clarity, a few of these are worthy of calender material.

Meanwhile, two lawns are callin my name. Gotta go suffer behind the pushmower again. Price ya pay for livin in green pastures ! :lol3

A little further along is Pomeroy Lake.

Only 1 person at the campground and nothing else. Very quiet.

South of Ironwood is Erwin Township. There was a big mine there called the bonnie mine.

As you putt around you may stumble upon old buildings here and there. This one is a big one. The Bonnie school from 1912. It must have held all the grades and quite a few kids in its day.

The amount of bricks that make up the exterior is dumbfounding !

They also did some geometric patterns with darker bricks and the curved arch top brickwork is superb.

Its a damn shame it is abandoned and fallin victim to no care whatsoever. Alot of real cool masonry from the early turn of the century is neglected, abandoned, and falling to ruin all around the area. Its a cryin shame, as I can imagine if it was repurposed as at least solid storage and workshop space.

The National Forest has dozens and dozens of lakes in just a portion of its area.

    Here is Moosehead Lake.

    P1020934.jpeg

    P1020924.jpeg

The breeze let up and the shoreline got glassy.

    P1020918.jpeg

As I walked to waters edge, hunnerts of little animals started to wiggle at the edge of land !

It turned out to be a estimated 1000 tadpoles as far as I could see in either direction ! I have never seen this many in one spot before.

They were big and fat, but too young to have legs. Im guessing they are bullfrog tadpoles because of their size.

The roads can be a little sandy, but days like this are prime. The trick is to ride em after a good rain shower the next day. It firms em up and makes for no dust.

    P1020960.jpeg

You know you are on a good route when there is a little grass growin in the center of the road bed, and the tree tunnel makes everything nice and shaded.

    Range lake was nice.

It had these mini lily pads that were the size of a silver dollar. Further down the lake were two good sized beaver huts.

If the thought of living close to all these national forest lakes seems appealing, there is one real estate option........

    P1020995.jpeg

Not only is it a classic vertical log house, it has the tallest river rock chimney in the entire county ! :eek7

    P1020997.jpeg

Has one helluva edition on the back with a nice shallow roof pitch to hold all the snow load .

The guest cabin out back needs a little fixin up.

    P1020999.jpeg

But the 3 foot high ant farm in front of the house will provide hours of entertainment when you are takin a break from all the remodeling chores !

    P1030001.jpeg

Easy walk in access to the crawlspace area. ( provided you are a dwarf ).

    P1030002.jpeg

Furnished crawl space provides ample room to grow you own mushrooms !

    P1030003.jpeg

Dont forget the scenic concrete bridge in your backyard over looking the scenic presque isle river !

The area lilacs are dieing off, the last of the healthy ones will be toast after this coming weekend.

    P1030025.jpeg

I saw the very first of the yellow water lily's the other day.

    P1020949.jpeg

Found a MASSIVE birch tree in the forest also. Its rare you see them this big and healthy with well proportioned forked trunks. Look at the size compared to my bike beside it !

Some of the small lakes are more or less just ponds. There are a bunch of those also. Most, like this one are not named.

    P1020962.jpeg

Next one down the road was Little Oxbow Lake. Nice sandy gravel bottom.

    P1030040.jpeg

Here is the not as common pink hybrid.

    P1030027.jpeg

And the uncommon white ones. They seem to also be the last to reach maturity.
