Paid a visit to Saint Johns Luthern Church .

Lotsa finlanders built small luthern churches out in the country of this entire area. This one started around 1928.

Note the stone foundation with the morter done up with ornemental scribed lines dividing the rocks. Its a very common thing on old houses around here. Also note the variety of color on the foundation rocks. Again, very common for the vivid color variety in the foundation rocks. I own a house thats got the same foundation, just like this church has.

The upper siding of this church is tin sheets that are stamped in the pattern of masonry bricks.

Creeks are runnin at summer levels now. Unless we get big thunderstorms soon, they will stay low like this. Water stays pretty clear and trout fishing gets tough when its clear and low water. Its amazing how well they can see you standin there when its clear and flow is low.

That vertical log home sure has one hell of a floor joist set up. I think you could drive a tank on that! I wonder what they are asking for it? I looked on the realtors site but didn't see it.

I cant find it either. I think the listing may have expired with no sale. Its really not salvageable. The land is right on the highway ( even though its a quiet highway ) and I would bet the well and septic are not up to code.

This is one of those leftover joints from WW II Im guessin. A sort of roadside fish camp or hunters hangout from back in the day.

It really has little value other than the fact its riverfront property. I doubt anybody will touch it.

A few years back, as I was roasting my ass to a sweat drenched crisp in the SE Idaho desert about this time of year, I found one spindly shade tree to hide under to sip my last luke warm beer...............

This was the mirage I imagined was on the horizon !

Its just typical in this part of the world. Its one of many reasons I moved back here.

    Just ask.

All the good stuff isnt that far off the well traveled routes, but ya need to know just where, and much of it isnt obvious.

There is this one old guy in a place called Weed Town USA that kinda knows where some cool stuff is . :evil

Woodpeckers have been busy lately looking for bugs in trees. Odd thing about this big cedar tree is how low on the trunk they have been working. I really never see peck holes this low.

Suddenly the wild ditch Iris have grown and are in full bloom.

Most common is the blue / purple ones. You typically find them near water, but I have found you can dig them up and replant them allmost anywhere, as long as it isnt to hot or dry.

The Lupines are starting to die off now. Some are halfway gone.

Not to worry, at least a half dozen new variety of wildflowers have started to bloom. A very wide variety, and getting wider by the day now ! :clap

Spotted a few wild Calla lily's still hangin on. They grow in water just like lily pads, but seem too not be able to take mid summer sun and heat. I rarely spot any from July onward.

They should be at peak in about a week. You see em everywhere. Sometimes 40 acre fields at a time full of em !

Along with the daisy's are the Indian Paintbrush flowers. They are also at near peak.

You find em in all kinds of places, even in the middle of your lawn. They pop up everywhere just like dandelions.
