Solid event this year with lots of laughs and riding. Sorting thru images and thought a thread to share them in one spot was in order. Captured a ton of video and working on an edit right now that should be done later this week.

Start off with a couple of images with more to come. HimalayanChopper.jpg

Funny as I tried to cross post the rally thread into all the regionals and ended up getting banned for three weeks. SPAM or some shit.
I have some pictures to add, too. I'll get to that in the next day or so.

I'll try and get a few of my pictures posted in the next few days. What an adventure! I lost my clutch at California Pass on Saturday and had to ride back down Poughkeepsie gulch to get back to camp sans clutch. Got that fixed so I stuck around and rode the Apline Loop on Sunday getting sleeted on and having to wait out a thunderstorm in an old cabin on Engineer Pass, only to have a rear wheel bearing disintegrate on me at Lake City. I had to hitch a ride with a side by side back over to Ouray (huge shout out to Juan and his family from J&Y towing in Montrose!) and then MountainsandRivers was gracious enough to give me a ride up the hill to camp to get the truck. Then I hit the road closure on 50 Monday morning but the flagger was awesome and got a pilot car to take me up to county road 867 to get over to 149 so I could get down to Lake City to pick up the bike and head home. I got home in one piece, but this is definitely a trip I won't forget.

Glad to help you out @Northwoods Snowman . But admittedly happier that you got that call out just before I was out of range east of Montrose, coming to fetch you from Lake City! A much longer evening that would have been.

I'm interested in this one. Did that occur here on ADV? I've been to a few WF's and always saw the dates, location, and info posted here beforehand. What heinous regulatory faux pas did you commit?

I just put a link to the rally thread in all the regional sections and Jo Momma. Maybe the last one did me in.....
I didn't think there was any issue, either.
If we roll into Westfest 2022, I am going to get in touch with the mods to see how best to put the word out. Obviously, we would have had more folks show up if my cross-post would have been allowed.

Enough of a thread jack....back to pictures, please.

I guess I’ll transfer all my pics and whatnot over here.

@Newner and I loaded up the Colorado to head to Colorado on Wednesday morning. We strapped my G450X and his KLX250+ to the rickety trailer. And like that, the Clampett’s we’re headed west (from Tulsa, OK) at 10am.

The trip was uneventful. Interstate to OKC, then more interstate towards Albuquerque. We were being tailed by @LostBo¥ from the OKC area and he finally caught us at Santa Rosa, NM, E of ABQ. Good thing he did, because we immediately got a trailer flat and had no spare.

After getting swindled by a tire shop for an old rim and tire that only fit backwards and only after we ripped off the fender, we were back on the road to ABQ and got a couple proper rims and tires for the remainder of the trip.

We “camped” next to 550 at the Lime Creek turnoff N of Durango at about 1am. We’d finish the journey in the morning. Notice the foggy windows of our camp lodgings. @LostBo¥ camped in style with his RTT.

After our musty, overnight snore fest on the side of 550 at Lime Creek, we awoke and headed towards Ouray for the final approach.
We stopped for coffee and burritos in town and marveled/cringed at all the UTVs and Jeeps in town that would soon be clogging the mountain passes.

Our schedule was dictated, in part, by my need to participate in a virtual meeting not only Thursday, but Friday. It was simply a work obligation/opportunity that I couldn’t pass on (career-wise). So we needed to find our camp area and unload my bike so I could ride back into town where I had a study room reserved at the Ouray Library.

While I was zooming, @LostBo¥ was getting off-road legalized and @Newner was responsible for initiating camp, which he did, then tore down, and did again. Eventually, we settled on an acceptable piece of dirt as our home for the long weekend.

Not much riding happened on Thursday afternoon/eve, but we drank some beers and ate some local food. The riding in earnest would begin Friday. :deal
