Well if you have a couple of hours to spare say between 7 and 9 am on the 9th, you're definitely welcome to come in and say Hi, the meeting place for the ride is about 40 minutes from the ''famed'' Oka Ferry that was previously mentionned and with 260 local riders on hand, I'm sure you'll get a load of last minute pointers on where to go and what to see on your trip. Speaking only English will not be a problem. A good portion of the group are biligual and there will also be a few that are uniligual Anglos taking part in the event. All are welcome! Have a safe ride regardless.
I am excited that in about 7 days we will begin our ride to Quebec City and Saguenay. Please send a PM to Vikingtazz or to myself, if you are planning to join us en route. Our plans are somewhat fluid once we get there. A lot will depend on the weather. Thanks, Simba
If all goes as planned I will be riding the 381 both ways this week. I drove the car on it a few weeks ago and there were lots of nasty frost heaves (I actually got airborne at least once, felt both axles land!) Traction control kicked in a few times as well. On the way back there were moose just standing on the road. Probably the wildest road in eastern canada. Oh and the lakes are still frozen and there is still snow in the parc (just drove up the 175) All the bikes are out though.
Some of you had expressed interest in joining us. Please send me an email or a PM. Thanks, Simba imu1@comcast.net
Hope the forecast clears up for you! I rode down the 381 today on a temp plate and it was bliss on a bike. The surface is now clean, the frost heaves are mostly gone or marked, and the lakes are starting to thaw. Still cold when the sun sets but the temps are great in the mid day.
Hey Martin - that was a good ride, thank you very much for showing us around your area. Your bike is very nice - we were all very impressed with it's looks and performance. It will be really great when you can show us her off-road abilities.
Hello Friends, the RR will be here: http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1065074 I wish to thank Martin, Kirk, Pawel and all others who contributed towards me having a fantastic time. Thank You So Much. Imu
I rode to Sept-Iles a couple of years ago, and passed through Tadoussac. And on the ferry crossing at Tadoussac, a blue whale appeared not too far in front of us, dove, and then resurfaced right beside the ferry. It was pretty impressive. We continued north from there and arrived at Pointe-des-Monts, where they rent out nice little cabins for something like C$85 a night. We sat out on the balcony in the afternoon, evening, and following morning and watched the minke whales feeding just offshore. (Also, there is a fabulous restaurant in the lighthouse there.)
I have heard that you can camp off the shore in Mingan (Mingan Archipelago National Park Reserve ) that you can often see whales from the beach. I want to go camping there sometime soon.
