    TRUE STORY...
so, heading to Galveston for the weekend...about a 220 mile trek...get to a gas station about 10 miles from the ferry landing to fuel up, and in comes a Ford 250 with a very nice HD themed trailer...2 men, 2 women get out the truck, and the guys open up the trailer and start unloading their fully loaded (and by loaded, i mean, leather cargo bags strapped to the sissy bar) Harleys and get them unloaded, and close the trailer back up. The truck and trailer and bikes have Louisiana license plates on them.
I finish up my fueling and head out to the ferry landing, get across the bay to Galveston Island, go to motel, check in, go in room and freshen up and change clothes, check in at home with the misses, etc.
I come out the room to do a ride to Kemah for a late lunch..and who do I see in the parking lot but the guys on the previously trailered bikes, and I spot the truck with trailer further down the parking lot. Bikes are still loaded up with their luggage, and I go over to chat since we are all from Louisiana..
    Conversation goes something like this:

Me: "hey guys, see you are from LA..where abouts?"
Them: "we are from Slidell, you?"
Me: "I'm from the Lafayette area. Great weekend for riding! Had a good trip here"
Them: "yeah man, great weather! Love to get out on the bikes and feel the wind in our hair"
Me: "how long a trip was it for you? lots of bikes on the roads?"
Them: "took us about 6 hrs...we just cruised, in no hurry at all.."
Me: (in total disbelief that they just basically lied to me about riding here), "ok, i gotta run. Enjoy your weekend. Later."
    :eek1
I know what SOME Harley riders did this weekend....

Well, in their defense at least they rode this weekend vs working, which is what I did...we did talk bikes, though:

long time customers, kid was given a Sportster two years ago-nice lookin' bike ( I say kid, he's 25 or 26).

I noticed it wasn't around so I asked if he had sold it or what?

He said he was having some custom work done and was hoping to have it back by the end of the summer; told me last year was epic riding- he got in 900 miles!

The OP did say he'd made a 220 mile trek... sounds like a looong trip when you say it like that.:lol3

There's a reason I've spent upwards of $800.00 on motorcycle seats, I'm getting positively tender in my old age.:cry

Interesting article and how I see it as well. My main reason for being anti-HD has to do with the way they threatened to leave PA unless they agreed to a bunch of tax breaks and further incentives. They aren't the only ones to engage in corporate blackmail I'm sure. But it still happened. As I'm not their target demographic, I'm sure they don't care anyway. :lol3
