'04 Tiger....It's what I got. My buddy on his 1200GS.

Wanted to re-seed the question someone else brought up. What tires should I use? I mean I guess if people are doing it on GW's Tourances would be fine, but I feel like TKC-80's might be better....I dunno

about to turn 40 and looking at the many options to make a northern run....

    Dl1000
    KTM 990 adv
    BMW 1200 GS and GSA
    BMW RT 1200

the bike is going to depend on if I want to try to make it up to Prudhoe Bay and along the far north on the way back.

Thinking about mid Aug or early Sept.... looking at road cond to plan the trip. Trying to look up the last few years to see the road cond :ear

06 F650GS, Jesse bags, Russell saddle. I bought this bike 2 years ago with the intention of riding it to Alaska and have been preparing it since. Will leave June 2nd for six weeks. Here's a blog of my proposed route.

Looks like a pretty good plan. Maybe just a bit much mileage per day in some spots. Glad to see you're planning on attending D2D.

Good luck, have fun, and I'll see you there. Mark H.

Looks like I'll be covering much of the same territory although I haven't planned things out to your extent. (no blog, all in my head.) I'm going to try to do 600 mile days to get to Whitehorse and after that keep it around 200-250/day. D2D, Inuvik, Deadhorse then a couple weeks around Anchorage, Kenai, etc before heading home.

That about sums up my plan as well. I'll be on a blue '06 Tiger. My arse couldn't stand the thought of taking the DRZ from IL to AK. I'll be leaving the Midwest Jun 17. I'll be riding on a set of Tourances, with a set of TKCs to mount for the Canol/Dempster/etc.

I figure the itinerary is optimistic as far as mileage. Will have to adjust as I go. I might even be able to work in another week.

    Hope to see you, Mark.

Most excellent part of a vacation plan, the flexibility for adjustments and possibility of extension. :evil

That's what I like to hear! :thumb

I am going on my 07 1200gs. I bought it for this kind of thing. I did a tour of the US coast to coast a few years back on a Kawasaki zx-12 and it was the best vacation of my life. Hopefully this one will top it. Hopefully see some of yall on the way!

Next Year, i think from April to May, from Mexico City to AK.

I have a BWM F 650 GS, i hope it was sufficient for that trip, is more than a 25,000 kms, so we plan to make 500 kms per day and a couple of day to visit National Parks or sightseeing.

    What do you think ????

07 GSA, leaving Mid May, want to beat some of the RV's and make the King Crab Festival in Kodiak. Then on to Inuvik and Prudhoe Bay, then make D2d of course, route not set yet. Looking for ride partner, my wife prefers I ride with someone on this trip. :freaky

When I get back from OEF - going for that overseas sales deal. Know any good places to stop along the way? Sights to see? Best way to do it cheap? Planning on hitting the 'Milepost' for some ideas...
