Unfortunately I won't be riding anything to Alaska this year, but I like all the ideas for what I'll ride in 09.

That'll be fun in the rough stuff, but a bit buzzy on the pavement for long stretches! My KTM 250 and my old XR250 always made 10 pavement miles feel like 50.

This will be our first trip through AK - we've got a month, and our only plan so far is to make it to Deadhorse. Other than that, we'll just be wandering to see what we can see.

I'll be on the F650GS, the hubby has a Versys. We've got the bags, the heated gear, everything on the bikes as bullet-proof-ized as possible. Hubby still needs to raise the front fender on the Versys or do the Acerbis motard. We also still need to buy a tent and sleeping bags.

Other than that, we're ready to go.

Leaving from Oregon July 4 - Independence Day, indeed! :clap

I just bought an '06 1200GS Adventure, Hope to be somewhere up there for Summer Solstice. I'm wondering about the tire situation - Seems there must be a lot of used TK80's available around the area - I know I don't want to haul 'em home with me... Maybe some one buried theirs in the tundra with a GPS location... ?

1200gs nicer for the straights for sure. 650 sips the fuel and easier to pick up by myself. Although I have never dropped it....NOT.

My wife will be flying in to Anchorage for a cruise to Vancouver. A friend will be flying in to ride my bike to Vancouver where I will get back on to take over for the ride home. lazyguy will be continuing on to Haines to hop on the Ferry south to Bellingham where we will meet up for the ride home. Man, am I ever gonna stand out on a 600cc Triumph Daytona...begging for gas cause my range sucks...
Did me good last year. 18,000 miles of touring and camping, missed Hyder by 50 Km due to lack of fuel. This year I will be prepared and bring a fuel container.

FUNNY!! I started planning my Alaska 2009 trip this year. Why? Because I turned 40 and decided that waiting until the kids are gone means I'll never make the trip.
