And what is the cost?
Powerseal is one, and if I am reading their web site correctly the cost is ~$270/cylinder
Debated it years ago too. Went with new. It was the right decision for me.
Not convinced I will do it, but am simply assessing the options.
You might try reaching out to Tom Cutter at Rubber Chicken Racing. He would know and could refer you, or even help!
I have no personal experience with this company, Millenium Technologies.
I used Millenium Technologies on my 1,000 cylinders, they came back looking like new. My cylinders were egg shaped and starting to taper per Max BMW's machine shop. I had Max send me back my cylinders and sent them along with some newer pistons to Millenium and they matched the cylinders to the pistons. I have about 5,000 miles on the rebuilt engine and it is doing great, no oil use, I have not done a leak down test or pressure test yet because the engine is really running great.
Sweet... That looks like an interesting company
I used MT as well on my '83 RS rebuild about a year ago - very happy with the results.
If you are treating early BMW’s without nikilsil, it’s a one shot process and if it goes wrong it can’t be redone, this is not a problem with an aluminium cylinder.
I'm heavily leaning towards finding serviceable used parts...
i have a worn set of 1kcc jugs. good cross hatching at the top but slick at the bottom. I looked into replating but it was just too expensive. Anyone can have them for the shipping.
