Put a few finishing touches to the 300 EXC ready for pit inspection tomorrow...
Yesty I was doing this...butchering a spring hook...
...grind a bit off here and there... drill a hole and insert a bolt and turn a cheapy spring hook spanner into a (hopefully ) workable spanner to fit this flywheel....buy the KTM tool and it'll set ya back $166.00.
a second bolt might be needed so I can hold it steady like this..when I tighten up the flywheel nut....and yes , that is a hole in the flywheel...what happens when the starter motor eats some of the free wheel teeth...
....after I fit a new clutch sprag....posty is bringing it today I hope..
Got the EXC licensed today!
shit hot! happy ring-a-ding-dinging!!
that is GOLD.
Motor oil & filter change (13 hours on the meter) 1300 ml of the good stuff + re-rear the back cog from 50 to 48 t.
I spent 3 hours driving around trying to find somewhere to sell me a few m6x80mm stainless cap head bolts to tie in racks and subframe bracing. Each shop sent me to another . No one had any or they would only sell a box .
Eventually got some only to find i wrote down the wrong size and should of been m8 . Doh !
Dropped the coolant and fresh plugs gapped on the mig wire.
Starts sweet as.
All before 07:00
hadn't started for 16 months....only took a few kicks
two year old fuel doesn't help
will drain the fuel bowl this time, the two stroke oil should be enough to prevent internals corroding? or maybe should spray some CRC down plug hole??
Keep a eye out for condensation around bigend on crank,i stored a 2 stroker for a few years and before storage removed carby/reed block and filled crank well area with motor oil too cover bigend bearing.
set of brand new tyres ...scorpion mt 60's ,bought a hand pump and pumped my forks up......(yawn) so tired...so much hard work...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Flipped the Sherco today, funny enough I had a practise at it two hills prior but jumped back on, so practise doesn't make perfect
Oh so glad to hear it's not just me who has these experiences.
Repositioned my bars and all controls to see if it will reduce forearm pain. And glued some new grips on.
epoxy repair to radiator on the Wee, checked valve clearances (no change from new) reassembled and looked at it, off to get distilled water and coolant, fill it up and test ride this arvo
Fitted a Radguard this week. Good gear but the fuel line protector bolt holes had to be drilled out to get everything lined up.
I'd knocked up some swingarm bobbins out of cap bolts and washers and they worked OK but I decided to get a couple of Evo bobbins with the Radguard order. They didn't fit; at a guess the thread is M10 coarse on the bike and fine on the bobbin bolts.
Fitted an SW-Motech side stand extender and just about trashed it on the first ride. It drags when you're cranked over. Motorradgarage are all sniffy about it: it's never happened before and they've "sold hundreds", maybe I didn't fit it correctly, it shouldn't have happend. Derr.
It wasn't today but I thrashed the little girl around Phillip Island GP Circuit. It was a perfect day too. Totally justified the money I spent
large pinhole in radiator core sealed fine, the 6 super small ones that leaked as soon as I got it up to temp ruined my day, got no idea what hit it ........... packed it up and pottered round the hills for a couple of hours on the CB250 :)
Checked the air on the TR. Errol's 3D printed airbox mod is working a treat.
