1. Hey everyone, We’re going to start a weekly email to surface interesting threads in the forums. No worries, you can easily unsubscribe if you don’t find it interesting. If you’re like me, it’s nice to have someone willing to poke around a big community like ours and find the most interesting stuff. Saves time and I hate missing something great. It worked really well when we had someone discovering the best photos for the home page rotation back in the day. And if you have something fascinating to post, maybe this email does everyone some good by getting it noticed. Let us know what you think when you get it. Your feedback will make it better as we go (thread). Thanks! Baldy & rudy1220

It's not a big deal but you get a bit of an idea of the quality of previous work done. Pulling it down to replace the push rod seals but I'll chuck in new rings while I'm in there (they are only $35 a set).:thumbup

Fitted New front tyre (Pirelli Scorpion Dual sport) on the Didn't Realise, greased the front axle seals. Tyre feels better than the stock Trial wings. Air valves on the front forks @ 4psi and 12mm spring spacers added. The rear is now a more obvious out of control pogo stick :nah....
Dropped off bike to get oil leak and a few other did/Didn't Realise problems fixed... Rooster noise starter & Loose clutch basket??? meh..:hmmmmm

I was getting a bit toey for a ride so on Monday I rang a bloke I met at Lake Gairdner who lives an hour or so away and left him a msg about maybe going for a ride. He rings back Monday nite, and lo and behold! it's his birthday the next day and he wants to go riding.

So I spent yesterday afternoon (after a burger for brunch at Tathra) wandering north from Tathra to Bermagui with Pete on his KLR 650, just exploring all the roads leading off the main one down to the beaches. It was just a magic day for a ride, the weather was superb, and I got to try out ratty on dirt roads with the 17" road tyres on (no worries, deep sand to be avoided but....).

Nah mate, Tathra to Bermagui only, Kiama is a half a day ride away eh. As it was I did around 240 k's and spent 7 hours out on the bike, probably 4 hours in the saddle.

Went for the first ride in about 18 months this afternoon - just a quick trip to the local inspection station to get a AUVIS (blue slip) in readiness for rego for the Scrapheap Adventure Ride in a few weeks time.

Tweeked the rear wheel spokes, installed new battery, changed oil and filter, put air filer back in, removed handlebars, attempted to remove 24yr old bar end inserts with big drift and even bigger hammer, and heat gun, bought new handle bars and drank beer.

Just need to install rear wheel, fix tiny exhaust leak, new bars with mirrors, wash and register.

Yay! So you'll be going to Pooncarie then?

I was touch and go for a while as to whether I'd get there , due to change of job , but new boss was ok with it. Took the rear tyre off the Freewind and started cleaning the rim in preparation for an attempt at sealing the spokes so it can be tubeless. After struggling with the old tyre in the garage with all the tools , I don't want to be fixing flats out in the boonies in 40c heat :nah

Yep looking forward to it! Few more things to sort with the bike, but this was the major hurdle out of the way.

After 3 months away, I stuck the battery back in the 955 and gave it a kick in the guts. Didn't run properly for about 3 seconds, then idled nicely.
Sunny day, go for my first ride since June, shortly.

Nice and tidy, but what's the coppers like in Tassie about numberplate placement? My XR numberplate was mounted the same way, but one inmate posted on Facebook recently about his $1200 fine in Perth for having a numberplate mounted non-ADR compliant and it wasn't nearly as angled as yours.

    Just curious
