Touratek, they are actually less expensive than the BMW bars, plus I got 15% off and free installation when I ordered them with the bike.
For you or @KiwiKurt, will that helmet accommodate the speakers for a Sena 20 communication system? I've read they don't have ear pockets designed into the liners, but I've also seen where people have still made the speakers fit, albeit without the supplied foam covers installed. Can you shed any light on this?
I have the Cardo Packtalk bold with the 40 MM JBL speakers and it all fits very nicely in the ear pockets.. No mods necessary...that I remember..
YES, I do really really need them, or else how do I get off road? To get off road I need use the road to get there, hence a dual sport like my KTM. They won’t let me on a track with lights and shit so hence the two smoke YZ 250... The beemer is to ride and go on adventures with wifey.
That’s crazy! ... That is what I use my 690 enduro r for. I could probably ride the GS in that but I can’t bring myself to ride a bike at that price point on that terrain. Good on you for riding your gsa in that...
Found it thanks! This is the part I did not miss about the. Bring More Wallet bikes, but they are sweeet to ride. Mine seems to get better with every ride....
I put my GS 911 to use for the first time. The download and install was a little confusing because their screenshots didn't match what I was seeing on my computer. Running a scan and resetting maintenance reminder was super quick and easy! I'm just a little upset that I paid so much for a new bike and resetting the service reminder is not able to be reset by the user on the TFT.
Cuz it's "Bring More Wallet" logic of you taking the bike to the dealer for servicing and they'd do that for ya... My German made clunker has same set-up that you'd have to go to the dealer to reset annoying service reminder unless you get equivalent of GS911 that works w VW to do it - it's gotta be a German thing...
Hmmm... That's strange - FD oil should be changed at 600 mi service as that's how the previous MY were specified in owner's manual... My '16 OM had that particular item specifically stated - not sure why '20 doesn't have it (or it may not be as obvious as it was before)... Either way, it's very simple to do, similarly as for engine oil, drain plug at the bottom, fill plug from the top, 180ml of Mobil 1 75w90 in and it's done in no time...
I went and double checked to make sure I wasn't crazy. Number 4 is Oil change in the rear bevel gears.
1 BMW Running-in check (including oil change) I assume it would say bevel gears too if it was to be done. I seem to remember some guys here complaining about getting charged for the service and also billed for a full liter of gear oil when it was not specified. I'm changing my FD oil but thought it was strange that it doesn't appear to be on the schedule. It's so cheap that you're crazy not to do it!
A-ha... Need to look up a break down of what running-in checklist includes (it sayz R1200 but it's the same for R1250 across all platforms): There you has it - mystery resolved... FD oil change included, 4th down the list...
When I bought my 2018 GS in spring of 2019 the dealer said the 600 mile service was just final drive and the checks. I did the oil and filter too.
See above break-down of what running-in check at 600mi includes... In an essence, yes, change engine oil, oil filter, FD oil, bunch of checks and after the dealer lightens your wallet for ~$500, you're on your merry way having completed running-in check...
Yes, that can be the case at some shops. But I was able to negotiate the 600 mile service into the purchase.
