Took my wheels off. Went to my local shop to have new tires put on. "Closed until 9/28." Shit. Came back home, put wheels back on. made some coffee.
rode a new fun county road for me...cr410 between Johnson City (where i later got pulled over for speeding dammit) and Blanco. this silly bambi thought about ruining my ride but at the last minute did the right thing... i'm guessing that's a water reservoir on your back seat? kinda looks like a little BBQ smoker...which would rule.
...yep Mechanic Street Cycles, our only local KTM mechanic closed. Huge bummer. He did a complete career change. got out of the business completely. He also won't Balance BMW wheels so I went to Hayle's in Enfield for that. He just doesn't have room for the GS so I bring him my bike.
All I use are two Motion pro's for bead breaking and two older tire irons that are smooth to mount tires with... So far no issues with mounting or removing tires including the Dunlop Missions that are a bear to deal with..
If you're fighting a tire then your technique is off as it shouldn't be a huge struggle. Now some tires are worse than others, but I find that heavy duty zip ties can be of great use in getting a wayward tire on or off a rim... YMMV
Quadlock just released a vibration dampener for their mounts. I highly suggest picking one up. I have a prototype they had me test. Works great. I’ve done a ton of riding with it thatI know from experience would have broken the camera on my phone without it.
For those who are lazy like me: https://www.quadlockcase.com/products/vibration-dampener?variant=32819777372235 Looks like a viable option, especially if it works with their wireless charger. I use Quad Lock for my road bike (cycling).
The drawback is that you have to use their case. I love my Juiced Squeeze with a buzzkill. https://shop-hondogarage.com/collections/phone-mounting-systems-motorcycle I just rode my DRZ 300 miles off road in South Dakota without a hiccup; and I get to keep my Otterbox case. Edit to add GS content: Thinking about selling my 1150GS for a T7
