Driving, per recommendation from BDCW.
it's been a busy week. between hunting down craigslist bargains, a trip to REI and tracking various shipments, it's been like a mini christmas for me and my new 05 R12GS.
tonight i installed my new beak mudguard, rear splashguard (easy), center stand lift-assist lever, steering stops, and removed the whole seat assembly to replace the alarm batteries. i also got everything ready to swap on my new (to me) cross-spoke rims with tkc80 knobbies just in time for a dual sport riding clinic at hollister next weekend.
i'm typing this on my ipad in the backyard as i try out my rei halfdome 2+ tent, big agnes encampment +15 sleeping bag and REI Stratus Insulated Air Pad. while the air pad doesn't come close to my tempurpedic, it is plenty firm enough to keep my 230 lbs from touching the ground even turned on my side, even after i let a little air out just to soften the pad up.
all the new goodies are getting me amped for riding alaska next summer.
I just went outside, pissin rain again. I need to remind myself why I moved to the PNW. Oh yea, as opposed to SoCal, I can breath the air and it's not as hot as hell. I went into the shop and stood by the old gal. New Amsoil all around and a washing with wax job. And why do I do this every year to myself.........It's the memories that keep me coming back for more.
I took my 2012 R12 for the 12k service... and decided to try some Heidis.
I put on as much as would fit under my Rukka suit and went to a yoga class -1C and the snow flake/ ice crystal flashing
on my display.
Every day on the bike is a good day come rain or sunshine, and touch would it's running perfectly
Jack shit, unfortunately. I'm 2600 miles from home. If I was home I would be riding it. Has everything I need on it but I will be ordering a new Klim suit.
I decided to buy a 2012 GSA Triple Black with less than 3000 miles on the clock...
Just bought a new one!
Which color? Photos? Have you taken delivery yet?
Went for a 150 mile ride in the cold windy rain. Loved every minute of it!
No riding for me today, weather not so inviting. But I got to spend the day at home with the family .
I did go out in the garage and gawk at the bike a few times.
Tomorrow is looking good for a lengthy excursion.
I rode 80 miles of quite difficult terrain and replaced a final drive that was leaking. Tomorrow, I intend to ride 115 miles of quite difficult terrain and not replace a final drive.
went to the dealership....still couldn't pull the trigger on it.....so i did nothing to it today.
New Michelins installed today as well as rear drive fluid replacement in preporation to a ride to the smokies within the next couple weeks!
Your signature is showing a 2012 MTS1200ST -
Is the Multistrata not scratching the itch anymore?
it is everything that the Multi is not.
No riding since I can't flex the wrist/twist the throttle. My right hand, wrist and arm are in a non-removable cast so I had to take it easy for the day. (And the next two weeks!)
So I installed a wunderlicht skid plate , a set of pivot pegs, a set of Advdesign lower crash bars, (really nice!) and a new set of the tourarech hand guards to my 2006 GSA.
They all look great and I can't wait till I can ride again.
No riding today but I did move the GS around in the garage. Spent some time thinking about my next mod... maybe a new set of auxilary lights, maybe replace the stock headlight bulbs with aftermarket PIAAs...
Gave some thought to relocating the RAM mount for my Garmin 60CSX from above the tach to the handlebars. Figure this will make it a bit easier to read the GPS while riding.
Last week I had to replace my battery and modified the front rod that adjusts the seat height to allow the seat to fit with the new battery. Found a great post on here where the OP cut the majority of the bar out and secured the remaining with wire. Great idea that works very well.
Also recently installed a Flash2Pass module to operate the garage door without the opener. Works great and the install was fairly simple.
Finally, I took the long way home from the office on Friday. Put on around 55 miles by the time I rolled in to the garage.
Installed a Hepco & Becker engine guard on my 1100 GS. Wasn't as hard a described in the threads and looks good!
2012 GSA, was running rough and very vibey. Built a manometer and synced throttle. Also checked and adjusted spokes. 70% of front spokes were loose. Rebalanced wheels and everything is back to smooth. Love riding this bike. Can't stay off of it.
