Hi All, as the title suggests I want to know what the tank on my 2016 KTM super adventure is made out of. I have bought the bike as a statutory write-off and am turning it into a beach drag bike, I want to make the tank smaller but I am unsure if it is made of fibreglass or plastic. Does anyone have the answer?

    Thanks,

It's plastic (hdpe) you will not be able to alter it safely.

If you're going to tear the bike up I could use the left side tank cover, large white with decal. Thanks.

I'd imagine the tank from an 1190 or 1290 SAR would fit it....but they're only slightly smaller at 22L

I would not attempt to modify that $1200+ tank. I'd sell it and find a way to make something else fit.

If you’re tearing the bike apart I would love to buy the cornering lights. I caught some rocks on a freshly chip-sealed highway in arizona and they are both cracked.

as for the tank....maybe you could pick up a tank from an 1190 or a newer 1290? They’re smaller.

For a drag bike it seems like it would be easier to use some dirtbike or universal tank or even a little keg tank rather then spend effort to alter the OE tank that is valuable to some.
