Happy Birthday Dude!!! You're going to have to write a book about your whole experience. The manuscript to send to a literary agent is all here in this thread.

Thanks everyone! I guess getting older is a gift, I've not really thought of it that way before.
I'm hoping for better than a Happy Meal, but a happy meal will be great.
if it's not raining, we can walk to downtown from my current place and her favorite restaurant is about a 20m (kidspeed) walk from here.
Given that it's Mexican food, walking a couple of miles will be a welcome addition.
She's torn between that and Pho. Her current favorite food.

A book would be fun, but I think too negative. If I read my story before living it, I'm not sure I'd have made it through.
I guess I could put the end first and do flashbacks like Forrest Gump :lol3

Life is like a garage of motos… you never know which one you'll ride.
    Ride Forrest.. Ride!
oya… the ideas are flowing now! Beware!

i put it in those terms because i have stared death in the face...at 24 i was admitted to the Critical care unit with a double pulmonary embolism, and the lead doctor told me flat out given the size of the clots in my lungs, theres no reason medically speaking that i should still be alive.... over half my left lung was a solid clot and a third of my right lung... and i walked into urgent care thinking i had bad bronchitis... that will open your eyes to mortality... and since then, each day is a gift... i look at your situation similarly.... moto crash like yours? 99.9% chance even with good gear you arent coming out alive.... but you did... you arent the same person you were before the incident (neither am i... my life outlook completely changed) but you are still here..... and for a good reason... the Man upstairs has some sort of plan for you yet... :beer

It always amazes me how we can hear the message loud and clear but somehow it gets muddied as it leaves the ears and heads for the brains then one day, the little man in your ear starts speaking the same language as your brain and that message clicks. I guess we just can't hear some things until we are ready to.

31 is easier than 30... was for me anyhow.
47 is only an issue for me because the men in my family die before 60 an I've got a lot left to do before I die!
Maybe I'll live longer and that will be a bonus.

    Happy birthday!

its not hard for me, given what i have been thru... each day is a gift that i may not have otherwise had... a matter of minutes difference for me walking into urgent care could have been the difference of me being here or a clot breaking out of the lung and going to my heart (heart attack) or my brain (stroke)... it could have certainly been a lot worse than it was... and i am thankful each day that it wasn't...

Ok, day 1 of work was tough to put it mildly.
I started at 9, so I left at 8 to be on time.
By 1130 I was running out of mental capacity and getting really tired.
So I went home, my afternoon was conference calls anyhow.
I think I ate as many calories as I do in 3 days today and my head is still craving more.
No nap though, as bad as I wanted one and probably could have used one. I was afraid I would be groggy.

The day ended well though with me going to my daughter's schools talent show... 2 hours of elementary school kids. Yeah, that good. :D

I think I can handle the job but it's going to be interesting for a while.
    I need brain juice.

March is Brain Injury Awareness Month. Both acquired and traumatic... the distinction may matter to those impacted by a brain injury, either as the survivor themselves, or as a caregiver.
