Have you had a chance to look into the HELP program I mentioned? I mentioned your story to my wife...and she really thinks it could help. She said they can do therapy/tutoring sessions via Skype/Facetime. Feel free to PM if you want to discuss more.

I did check out the website and the biggest issue for me is following through on reading it and that it seems to be in Oregon only.
I do have it open and I keep trying to read it. I do appreciate it and I do need to take some sort of action.
    Thank you for reminding me.

Yes, they are Oregon based, but per my better half they can do distance work via skype/facetime. My suggestion is when you are able give them a call...or if its helpful, my wife would be happy to ask them some questions for you and get back to you. She is in the office weekly with our daughter.

Wow Rhubarb, just read your whole thread......
    You are a inspiration......
This coming from someone who has struggled with depression/bi polar(prob CTE related) for most of his adult life. I wish I could express my condition to others as well as you.
If you can keep crawling up out of the black abyss maybe we can too
    Peace

You are an inspiration to all. My FIL suffered a TBI in 7/14 when hit by a van on his bicycle, thankfully otherwise he was ok and is somewhat "normal" if you can really classify that. I suffered quite a few what I only considered bell rings until lately that and your story has given me a lot of insight into my behavior and my FIL as well. (Theres a week I dont remember but apparently I raced) I don't usually post but your story rang me a bit and I wish you all the best and keep it up for that little girl. my daughter is the best thing that ever happened to me and it seems you have the same blessing. thank you for all you have shared with all of us.

    @slacker1965 @Mach 1 Thanks folks!
I'm sorry to hear you are both struggling and your FiL M1.

I wrote a whole thing here but then I realized it was 90% negative.
I'll wait until my mood improves before putting in an update.

    Happy Friday!

Getting worse with each passing day from a physical standpoint but I seem to be maintaining mostly, maybe even slight improvement from a mental standpoint.
I still struggle to make it through a workday without taking a nap at some point but it could be worse... I could need 2 naps!
at least I work from home most of the time.

today's special announcement is prompted by what I found on the interwebs during my daily check-in.

So yeah... there it is. I guess shit just got real.

Not taking it as badly as I expected but it's still light out.

101 days away from needing to do a 1000 miler... not looking lightly given my physical state though.

    Dang. That's...sobering.

Make this your chance for a new start. Decide to come out of this a better man.

From what I've read in this thread before, it doesn't come as a surprise to you. However, no matter how much time you have to prepare, there is always going to be a certain level of pain associated with actually getting the news. Just know that there are plenty of folk on this site that have been through this already and are more than willing to lend an ear, a shoulder or a couch, should you need it. Don't be afraid to reach out to one of us for anything at all.

I've not been posting because all I have is negativity, except my daughter, who is mostly why I keep getting up in the morning.
I'll save you all the whiny bs because I've got nothing positive in my life beyond my daughter and 2.5 years later, I continue to wish I was still in the field.

I do appreciate you checking in and I apologize for my bad attitude.
