last week And after 30 some years ignoring my garage door opener, it died. what failed is the plastic housing for the gears...I know p** poor design! anyway a new plastic housing is in transit and wanting to do it right, don't know what type(s) of grease , plays nice with plastics. my fall back grease would be silicon based grease- but it's a bit spendy ...does anyone know of a compatible grease that is a bit more reasonable?

Go to a HONDA car dealership, parts dept. & ask for a tube (it's a small tube) of UREA grease. It's what HONDA provides us (retired tech) for that very purpose, metal on plastic. Also good for higher heat applications.
