I'm organizing our 4th annual Alaska Outdoors Directory poker run at Jim Creek again this year and want to toss out the invite to all you ADV'rs. The date is for Oct 1st at 10am. Bring out the wheelers and maybe win some $$$!

Thanks for posting this. I just got a new Grizzly 700 and am looking for folks to tear it up with. Signed up for an account over at outdoorsdirectory.com while I was at it. Lots of excellent info. Oct 1 is a ways off for me to commit to but, I'll definitely keep it in mind.

Hope you can make it Bug! It has been a great event these past years. I started it up 4 years ago on a whim thinking maybe 20-30 people might show.... My wife and I got blasted with over 100 riders showing up on the very first run! :eek1 We kept it going and it keeps getting better. :clap

Being a new owner of a grizzly 550 (used) I may be interested too. Have borrowed a few wheelers but have not ridden very much.
Is this event crazy with nutty riders?
Will try the wheeler out at Chase this weekend.
You may see me as otternorth on AKoutdoors.
    Thanks for organizing the event.

BTW, I'm more than kinda interested in going for a trek into parts unknown before Oct. 1. I'm working this week but have next week off. Since I got it, I've been to Jim Creek and Eklutna once. Before I got the Grizz, I was doing Jim Creek on the Tiger. :D

Anyhow, I'll be looking for something around next week...

It's a pretty laid back crowd beamertwin. We try to keep it family friendly and there are usually quite a few kiddos riding along. Some of the guys ride pretty fast but they have their own groups and don't mingle much with the pack. At the lunch break (about 1/2 way to the glacier) several folks choose to keep going and make it out to the ice and back which requires considerably more throttle than the rest of the trip. New riders won't have a problem.

It changes all the time. If we pick and choose a way through, lots of times it is a foot deep or less. My daughter crossed it a few times this summer on her 90cc wheeler with no problems.

Count me n' Junior in. I know he'll want to bring his 150 but he'll have to suffer on 4 wheels.

Buddy of mine and I are going wheeling @ Jim Creek, probably Friday. Neither one of us have made it to the glacier because, well, we don't know how to get there. Anyone that knows the ropes wanna hook up and play tour guide? :ear

    EDIT:

Just realized that the poker run is on Saturday. October all ready! :eek1
