My goodness that's a pretty color!
ready to go for an IN back roads ride over the holiday weekend....
took the long way around the block is all
Wow You guys have been busy, took all morning to catch up. Mine should be back together this weekend, and I can start going places again
Buddy and I went in search of aliens as we had heard a UFO had been seen near Wheels Unlimited where anything can happen and sure enough we found it
Sure enough an alien and flying saucer he said he had called AAA and was waiting for a tow saucer
Apparently from a local artist welder with an imagination and sense of humor
Where did I go?, started over to Craig Co. for the annual Dino ride here in the NW corner of Co, with a little WY and UTAH thrown in. 110 mi out Blackies engine said “I quit”. Limped it home, starting to tear it down. Noise and vibration were unreal! If I find any of your lost tools in the bottom end I’ll send em to ya Dave
Oh no the last time it was assembled it was by the best BMW tech in the MIdwest Jarod at the former Gina's BMW In IA city with fresh bores, rings and timing chains, but it ran to limp home ?
I wonder if the drive shaft is about to let go entirely ? They make a tremendous ugly noise and soak up allot of power
Could be the shaft. Coming back I pulled in the clutch a few times while running about 50 mph and all vibes would quit. While sitting at a standstill if I rev it up when it gets to 3K it sounds as though the world is coming to an end!
That's the most high mileage part in the entire rig that's the only part of the entire drive train that is original, the trans has been apart and is custom the engine has been apart and completely new at about 75K and god only knows on the final drive I can't remember if it's a 33 or 34/11 obviously not original, but the driveshaft is the original.
How old's the clutch?
It's not the original I think it was changed at about 75K it's an aftermarket oil proof.
Pretty sure it’s the pistons. I’ve gotta couple extra. Special price just for you Jim.
Rode around my area today. Stopped at this cemetery, Morey Hill Cemetery, Hope Maine.

Took the Ural out for one more ride in the hills out toward Bridgeport and French Corral. Since I will picking up the new Africa Twin/DMC Expedition rig next week, I suspect the Ural will be collecting a bit of dust, and not the good adventure dust, more the sitting in the garage variety. At least until it sells. Also tested out the new Garmin Zumo XT (it’s great, so my 595 LM is for sale), and Mosko Moto’s Nomad Tank Bag and Navigator Cell Phone Pocket. I highly recommend these, and pretty much anything by Mosko Moto, you just can’t go wrong with their kit. One other interesting tid bit, I used the SOS function on my Delorme Inreach last weekend out by Bowman Lake. A guy on a quad met face to face with a rock, in and out of consciousness, and in pretty tough shape with a broken arm and other injuries. Got him down the trail to a clearing large enough to land a helicopter to Medevac him out. The Inreach and GEOS worked as advertised, pretty flawless execution of a rescue. Thats all for now, next post will be from the AT/DMC, can’t wait!
Now that's an adventure.

Well it was another beautiful day in the Blue Ridge Mountains of southside VA. Boss Monkey and I headed up to the BRP for another ride and picnic lunch. Met a group of like minded bikers in the parking lot of Mabry Mill on the BRP. Had a bite of lunch then headed to Meadows of Dan, VA and the Poor Farmers Market for a load of fresh vegetables for tonight's dinner!
