Nice to know both Katoomer and Legion are importing a couple of way cool bikes from California. I'm thinkin' you two should get together and ship both as a package. Might save a couple of bucks.
Just trying to help out. :Fite

Got mine pretty much figured out... and I also have a little experience w/ freight and logistics. Be glad to turn Katoomer on to my frieght guru and coordinate the freight portion from here.

You got somebody to crate it though? I'd hate to think of what the bike would look like shipped w/out a crate. Did you know that the Samsonite Gorilla works at the Port of Washington? Anything transloaded through there's gonna run the gauntlet.

    Ya...right.
I'm sure Pop's going to turn over the keys to that hot rod.
Why don't you ask him for the title and keys to the BEATER TT at the same time. Something tells me that you're going to need an act of Congress just to get near that ATK.
    But....no harm in asking.

If Legion keeps buying bikes at the rate he seems to be acquiring them, he may require the services of a food taster..... :grim

Which will give out first-Mrs legion's patience or his checkbook? :deal

There's a big stack of those milk crates behind the WeeBee's burger joint on O'Malley. A man can't help but notice what an attractive accessory they'd make.

Legion, I'm definately interested in a good shipping outfit. Ken at Aspen racing has a line on some guys that he has worked with for several years. He has over 60 bikes in a warehouse and he's building a Colorado 500 950 SE and one for Baja. A guy with these kind of resources must have a good line on shippers that know how to properly care for his "one-off" moto works of art. I am however, interested in your contact. I will be shipping the bike from San Francisco to HOH. Any contacts you have I would be interested in checking out. Makes sense to "shop" for the best in service, the best rates, and obviously the best moto-hardware. Looks like you've got all three figured out! Congrats on the dirt tracker. I've always wanted one. Funny thing is, I almost bought a 605 ATK back in 95 when I bought my first KTM 620. But once I rode a KTM, I never went back. Send me the info...PM me.

    Thanks,
    Katoomer

The guy I work with currently is with DHL and has a long history in the freight & logistics business. I worked with him starting around '96 and between '96 & '00 I probably shipped 5-10mm # of steel and aluminum through him while he was w/ another carrier.

He understands freight issues stateside and is intimately familiar w/ the consolidators and how to best get anything from WA to AK. His name's Pete and he's at DHL now. He's moving my bike up overland even though I had assumed that airfreight would be better. I'll pm you his email address.

Same guy's moved a bike or two for Glacier too.

    (edit: pm sent)
